Traditionally in early August, the South Korean company Samsung presents new models in the Note series. Thus, at the special event Galaxy Unpacked 2020, two smartphones were shown - Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. If last year's flagships of this series looked the same, but differed in the display diagonal and some features, this year Samsung decided to make a more solid distinction both in visual terms and in terms of features. Let us present you in the following lines the Galaxy Note 20 with some comparisons against the Note 20 Ultra.
Both smartphones come in a monoblock body, but differ in design and material inlay. In the Galaxy Note 20, we see more rounded edges. The screen slightly encroaches into the side area, visually making the bezel even smaller. The smartphone is thin, and the selfie camera is cleverly placed in a small hole at the top of the display.
The front panel of the Note 20 is covered with protective glass. The model is marketed in three colours, all with a matte effect. Probably the most interesting of them this year will be green.
As for the back of the housing, there is a large block of main cameras, which will be discussed later.
The Galaxy Note 20 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 2400 x 1080 pixel resolution, HDR10+ support, and a 60 Hz refresh rate. In this model, the company has decided not to use a higher display refresh rate for some reason. Like the manufacturer's other flagships from previous years, the Galaxy Note 20 uses an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built directly into the display.
In this model, Samsung used last year's generation S Pen. The capabilities of using the pen to remotely control the interface and apps have been expanded. Using gestures, the user can launch programs, control the camera and use other smartphone features.
In the global market, the Galaxy Note 20 is officially sold with a 7nm Exynos 990 processor that runs at a frequency of 2 to 2.73 GHz and includes a Mali-G77 MP11 graphics core. In the US, the smartphone runs Qualcomm's SM8250 Snapdragon 865+ (7nm+). The main platform difference between the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra is the size of the RAM and internal storage. In the Note 20 Ultra, it is 12/256 GB and in the Galaxy Note 20, it is 8/256 GB. In the former case, the user even has the option of using a microSD memory card.
Other features to mention are the wireless modules Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and ANT+, and also the presence of A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS and GALILEO.
Here we find one of the most serious differences between the Note 20 and the Note 20 Ultra. This is the set of main cameras. On this metric, the two new models strongly resemble the S20+ and S20 Ultra.
The Galaxy Note 20 features a primary camera consisting of:
- 64-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/1.72″ sensor, optical stabilization and phase autofocus. It is responsible for creating hybrid zoom photos. It takes the role of a telephoto module.
- A 12-megapixel wide-angle module with a 1/1.76″ sensor, f/1.8 aperture and 79-degree angle of view. Here we also have optical stabilization and Super Speed Dual Pixel autofocus;
- Another 12-megapixel module, this time a super-wide-angle with f/2.2 aperture, 1/2.55″ sensor, 120-degree angle of view and electronic stabilization.
With this kit you can count on quality photos without a drop of doubt, but also video. Samsung has paid special attention to the Galaxy Note 20's new ability to shoot videos.
The front camera of the Galaxy Note 20 is a single, 10-megapixel.
In the Galaxy Note 20, the battery has a capacity of 4300 mAh. The smartphone supports fast charging technology up to 45W via USB Type-C port, wireless charging up to 15W via Qi standard and can charge other devices wirelessly providing 9W of power.
The Galaxy Note 20 is a smartphone that definitely leaves good impressions so far. It has a nice design and an excellent set of flagship features. Fans of the series who are planning to upgrade their device will not regret buying the Note 20. They will get a large screen, a modern S Pen, excellent performance and autonomous operation. The green colour of the casing is particularly attractive. The possibilities for perfect photos and exciting videos further stimulate you to plan this purchase of yours. With the Galaxy Note 20, you give yourself a complete experience every day.
