Design

The Grand Prime Plus is executed in the same style in which we know Samsung devices from 2016. The only visible difference is the positioning of the LED flash on the front panel. A camera and proximity sensor can be seen on the screen. Below it is a typical camera button with two touch keys. The micro USB port and microphone are located below.

Although the Grand Prime Plus belongs to the budget class, visually it wins over the user. It seems to be quality made and there is no criticism regarding its looks. You might be surprised at the camera with a photo flash. It slightly protrudes above the body. Almost a millimeter, which is why scratches may appear on its protective glass. The use of a case is recommended.

The Grand Prime Plus can be operated with one hand, though with difficulty if in the hands of a teenager. Its dimensions are 144.8 x 72.1 x 8.9 mm at a weight of 160 grams. The model is available in black, gold and silver.

Display

In Grand Prime Plus, it is made using the old TFT technology with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. It is pleasing that the screen has an oleophobic coating. It is not of the highest quality, but it will work for a while. This Samsung device offers good screen viewing angles, not bad contrast level and brightness.

The display diagonal is 5 inches. The aspect ratio is 16:9. The screen occupies 66% of the front panel area.

Performance

Grand Prime Plus runs on MediaTek MT6737T platform. This is a well-known system for budget smartphones, featuring a 4-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a Mali-T720 video accelerator. The RAM is 1.5 GB and the internal storage is 8 GB, of which 4 GB is actually accessible to the user. That's small considering modern standards. The problem can be solved with a microSD memory card.

The power of the Grand Prime Plus is enough to watch video in 4K format, but at a low resolution. The system runs smoothly.

Cameras

The main camera in the Grand Prime Plus is 8 MP with autofocus. Settings are minimal. The quality is good for a budget device. You get not bad pictures, but there will be noise on them. You get decent night time shots too, but you need to use the photo light.

The front camera in turn is 5 MP. It's ideal for video calls, selfies and capturing important moments to share with friends on social networks.

The camera interface is extremely simple. Even a small child can handle it. This makes Grand Prime Plus ideal for users of any age.

Autonomous operation

The Grand Prime Plus battery is removable and has a capacity of 2600 mAh. In normal mode, it lasts for up to 24 hours. In the morning you unplug the phone from the charger, and the next morning you need to recharge. If you watch video continuously, you can count on 10 hours.

Grand Prime Plus recharges from 0 to 100% in 3-4 hours.

The smartphone offers two power-saving modes that can help you control your power consumption and ensure peace of mind.

Conclusion

The Grand Prime Plus is the newer version of the Galaxy Grand Prime VE Duos. It has added 4G support and increased the performance slightly. We can't help but highlight the presence of a faster processor, a more powerful video accelerator and more RAM. If we compare Grand Prime Plus and J5 Prime, the difference is even bigger. The screens stand out. On the J5 Prime, it's higher quality and the platform is slightly faster. The camera also offers better performance.

By offering the Grand Prime Plus in the market, Samsung complements its lineup of budget smartphones with a strong offering. The device doesn't impress with a unique look, but it combines useful and sought-after features. Along with that, it is quality made.

Grand Prime Plus is a perfect choice for the connoisseurs of budget class phones, which are not Chinese made though.

Pros:

  • 4G support;
  • Not bad cameras;
  • Front-facing camera with photo flash.

Minuses:

  • Low screen resolution due to which there is a pixelation effect;
  • Low memory;
  • Could have offered more autonomous operation.
