Design

As already stated, the design of the iPhone 7 case is preserved. It is very close to that of the iPhone 6. Thus, the front of the two models is the same. You can see the difference only with the Home button - it is slightly submerged in the housing.

The major changes to the iPhone 7 start from the back. The plastic bands that are responsible for the antenna signal path are now carefully inscribed on the top and bottom edges of the device.

The camera module protrudes slightly over the housing. Now it looks like a natural element of the whole design. Compared to the iPhone 6s, the switch to silent mode on the iPhone 7 is slightly higher, and the volume buttons are slightly higher above the body. The other controls remained in the same places.

In the iPhone 7, the materials that made the case are unchanged. The front of the smartphone is covered with an oleophobic protective glass. The back is made of 7000 aluminum.

The size of this Apple model is like the one we know from 6s - 138.3x67.1x7.1 mm. It is a little lighter - 138 grams.

Protection against water and dust

One of the most significant innovations in the iPhone 7 is the IP67 water and dust protection. In other words, the smartphone does not leak dust inside. You can immerse it in water up to a maximum depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

Home button and fingerprint scanner

Ever since the advent of the iPhone, there has always been a mechanical Home button under the smartphone display. In the iPhone 7, it does not disappear, but ceases to be mechanical. It is now a fixed sensor that is slightly submerged in the housing and detects the force with which the user presses it.

Display

In the iPhone 7, the manufacturer included a 4.7-inch touchscreen IPS display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels. Density - 326 pixels per inch. From Apple say that the screen has an extended color range is 25% brighter than the screen of the iPhone 6s. In brightness and contrast, the new model is slightly different from its predecessors. The maximum brightness amounts to 499 cd/m2 and 496 cd/m2 at 6s, and the contrast is 1149:1 versus 1122:1 for 6s.

Productivity

In the iPhone 6s, the company introduced a fast processor to its loyal customers. A year later, we realize that there is always something to develop. So, in the iPhone 7, the company used a new chip called the A10 Fusion. This is a 4-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. The phone have 2 GB of RAM. From Apple say that thanks to the new hardware platform iPhone 7 is 40% faster compared to 6s. Subsequent synthetic tests have confirmed this, but you should be aware that there is no difference in daily use. The smartphone works reasonably fast. The games are optimized. Productivity is a nice addition.

The internal storage of the iPhone 7 is now a minimum of 32 GB. There are 128 and 256 GB versions on the market. Apple dropped the 16GB version this year alone. Considering the availability of cloud services for listening to music and storing photos, the user can boldly pay the lower price - 32GB. If you are passionate about gaming, look at the other two versions.

The iPhone 7 runs on iOS 10.

Cameras

The iPhone 7 uses a 12MP camera with 6 lens system, optical stabilization and f/1.8 aperture. On paper, this feature set is as good as the one we know from the iPhone 6s. How is it implemented in practice? In sufficient light, the camera provides approximately the same level of detail. Photos with the iPhone 7 are more natural. When shooting in the late hours of the day, this smartphone performs much better than the iPhone 6s. There is definitely a visible advantage here. The f/1.8 aperture transmits more light, which means more detail is captured in low light.

With the main camera, the user can shoot 4K video.

The front camera is 7MP and produces perfect portrait shots.

Battery life

In the iPhone 7, the Cupertino company relied on a battery of 1960 mAh. The device works longer and promises plus 2 hours of battery life compared to its predecessor. In other words, the iPhone 7 offers a day of autonomy when active use - up to 30 minutes of talking, listening to music, periodically using games and social networking.

In 3D games, the smartphone completely consumes the battery in seven and a half hours, which is no bad result and demonstrates the high energy efficiency of SoC. In read and play video modes from YouTube, the results are slightly better.

An important point in Apple's new smartphone is that it can be recharged faster. The iPhone 7 recharges the battery for an hour and a little. There is nothing surprising about this result. Look at the capacity of the battery - it is one to two times smaller than what we know in competing Android models.

Conclusion

Many consider the compact iPhone 7 as a transitional model as it does not offer a complete upgrade of the series. His characteristics show significant changes in many indicators, but his vision remains intact. If you need water protection but need a 3.5mm headphone jack, it doesn't make sense to replace the iPhone 6s with the new iPhone 7. At the same time, the iPhone 7 is, and there is no dispute about, one of the latest iPhones with outstanding features. Getting it will take you to the Apple universe. The iPhone 7 has its time with the best LCD matrix with incredible brightness and contrast settings. The waterproof casing and dual memory must be properly evaluated.

Pros:

  • Protection against water and dust;
  • High quality display;
  • Excellent level of productivity;
  • Minimum 32 GB of memory;
  • Perfect camera;
  • Optical stabilization;
  • Perfect sound;
  • Fast fingerprint scanner.

Cons:

  • Design offers nothing new;
  • No 3.5mm audio jack;
  • His price is high.
