Before reading the full review, you can familiarize yourself with the detailed BLU G50 specs or watch the video below the article.

Design

From an aesthetic standpoint, you'll love this smartphone. Its body is pleasantly shiny and made of plastic. Visually, you won't find any standout elements in it. This is also expected from a basic level device. Its workmanship satisfies, will not provoke a negative impression in the user. The thickness of the BLU g50 - just over 10 mm, makes an impression. It is contributed by the battery capacity, which will be discussed later.

On the rear panel is positioned the fingerprint scanner, which works perfectly. Holding the smartphone in hand, one senses that its dimensions are standard.

Display

One of the reasons to pay attention to the BLU g50 is its display. It has a diagonal of 5.5 inches, which ranks it among the smaller models in the market. The matrix is IPS LCD technology, the resolution is low - 720 x 1440. The aspect ratio - 18:9. Looking at the aspect ratio of the screen to the entire front side of the smartphone, we see an indicator below 75%, which is logical. The bezels around the display of BLU g50 are thick.

In everyday life, the screen may not impress you with amazing qualities. For example, on a sunny day you may have difficulty reading information from it. However, the pixel density per inch is good, which somewhat overcomes this drawback.

Performance

As a representative of the super-budget class, peak performance is not required from the BLU g50. Underneath its pretty body lies an 8-core processor with Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.6 GHz. It is complemented by an IMG8322 graphics accelerator, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The latter can be increased using a microSDXC memory card.

Factory BLU g50 goes with Android 10 operating system and a proprietary interface in which everything is familiar if you are BLU brand users. You can adjust the gesture navigation and choose a dark theme if you like it.

Cameras

The BLU g50's photo capabilities are determined by the modules chosen by the manufacturer. For example, the rear camera is a single, 13-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. The front in turn is 8-megapixel. The former can shoot videos at 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second, while the latter can shoot 720 pixels at the same speed.

It can be hard to get exciting photos with these specs, but you'll have a good camera at your disposal to capture important moments of your day. Forget shooting in light deficiency. Nothing will be able to make up for it. With a little more practice and a good familiarity with the modes in the camera app, there was a chance for better results. You can always improve the quality of your footage with some editing app.

Autonomous operation

The BLU g50's battery is 4000 mAh, lithium polymer and non-removable. It is the reason for the slightly larger thickness of the device. However, this is hardly a minus. On the contrary, you will feel the BLU g50 more stable in your hand. The device is perfectly sized for carrying in your jeans pocket or jacket. The battery provides up to 2 days of autonomous operation. The manufacturer has provided a charger in the package with 10 W power.

Conclusion

After all that has been said so far, we can add that the BLU g50 is a modern offering in the budget class. This device can not fight for the attention of fans of mobile photography, gaming and selfies. It does, however, offer the most necessary basic features. With it, you can make long calls, surf the web, watch videos, etc.

Pros:

  • Simple design with a conveniently positioned fingerprint scanner on the back panel
  • Satisfactory autonomous operation
  • Supports memory card use, which is good given the small storage
  • Goes with Android 10 operating system
  • Decent price
  • Beautiful body colors - green, blue, red and black

Minuses:

  • Low screen resolution - barely 720 pixels
  • Only 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage
  • From the cameras you can offer something better
  • Poor performance
  • Not suitable for gaming
