Design
A distinctive feature of the appearance of Honor 8S is its practicality. In this device, the manufacturer does not chase the trends of the market. It does not repeat the footsteps of its competitors. In the Honor 8S, the user gets a classic style budget device. In it, everything is minimalistic. The color options are black, gold and blue.
The body of Honor 8S is plastic. Its ergonomics are at a height. There is no reason to complain that the smartphone will slip in your hands. All the controls, which have been relocated to the right side, are placed competently. On the left, you can see a full-fledged 2 SIM card slot and a microSD format memory card. There is no dust and water protection on the Honor 8S. A fingerprint scanner is also absent.
Display
The Honor 8S screen is not bad considering the class of the device. The display is 5.7-inch with HD+ resolution (1520 x 720 pixels) and IPS matrix. The bezels on the sides and top are thin. On the top of the screen, there is a teardrop notch under the camera.
The picture on the screen is of satisfactory quality. Under bright sun, the user will be able to read the presented information without any problem. The IPS matrix offers good color rendering, large viewing angles, sufficient brightness reserve, etc.
Camera
The main camera is single and shoots at a resolution of 13 MP. The aperture is f/1.8, which pleasantly amazes. On the front is the front camera with 5 MP resolution and f/2.2 aperture.
Daytime photos with the Honor 8S are contrasty and quite clear. Occasionally, the not very good quality sensor reminds of itself, because of which the detail suffers.
Performance
The Honor 8S is based on the MediaTek MT6761 chipset (Helio A22). It is a budget chip that is produced on a 12-nm tech process, introduced in the summer of 2018. The chipset her direct competitor to the Snapdragon 425 from Qualcomm.
The Helio A22 has 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz, LTE modem, LPDDR4X memory format support.
The Honor 8S's RAM is 2 GB and the permanent memory is 32 GB. The device runs Android 9 Pie operating system at the factory with the company's EMUI 9.0 interface. The power of the model is ample in daily usage. With complex games, it will cope more difficult, so it is advisable to minimize the graphics.
Autonomous operation
Honor 8S is powered by a 3020 mAh battery. At maximum brightness, watching YouTube videos will melt the battery by 18% per hour. With standard usage, a full charge provides autonomous operation for up to the evening. That's a reasonably good result, though one could ask for more.
Conclusion
The Honor 8S isn't a smartphone for everyone. It is designed for people who appreciate minimalism and austerity in design, who do not play heavy games and who want to buy a modern device at an adequate price.
