Design

Honor 50 Lite visually very similar to Huawei Nova 8i - a fact that will be well received by any user who does not like cardinal changes in the appearance of smartphones. The device impresses with a glossy coating of the plastic housing, which to some extent imitates satin. To protect its beauty, we recommend using a case. Traces of fingerprints easily accumulate.

On the right side you will find the fingerprint scanner. It is co-located with the power button. On the back is a large round module with cameras. Thin vertical stripes can be seen below it.

Honor 50 Lite can be counted among the heavy smartphones in the market. However, you can comfortably operate it with one hand. In the market, you will find three of its colour options - deep blue, space silver and midnight black.

Display

The display of Honor 50 Lite refers to the positive features of the model. We must praise the designers' decision to equip it with super thin bezels. The screen diagonal is 6.67 inches and the matrix - IPS Full HD+. For its price, it is of excellent quality and there is no risk of seeing yellow or green tints when viewing the screen at an angle. However, don't expect an increased picture refresh rate of 90 or 120 Hz.

The percentage of usable area is high - 94.4% of the front panel is taken up by the screen. The latter supports up to 16 million colors and has 391 pixels per inch.

Performance

At the heart of the Honor 50 Lite lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662-based system combined with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. No memory card slot is provided. Good news is that the phone shows virtually no slowdown. The bad comes when you realize that the platform is not powerful. Thus, the Honor 50 Lite severely lags behind in the race against competitors in the same price range.

What gives it an edge over Huawei models is that it supports all Google services.

According to the manufacturer, the Honor 50 Lite has a satisfyingly large storage, in which you can save at least 28,000 photos, over 11,000 songs and over 440 HD videos.

Cameras

We take a look at the Honor 50 Lite's photographic capabilities - some of the most important and determining to some extent the user's decision whether the purchase is worth it or not. The main camera of the smartphone is quad. Two of the modules have a marketing role. They have a resolution of 2 MP and perform the well-known tasks - macro and bokeh photos.

The main module is 64 MP and is complemented by an ultra-wide 8 MP. Judging the Honor 50 Lite's ability to take good photos, you should consider the absence of optical stabilization. That is to say, you need to hold the device steady, otherwise every single wobble can cause the picture to blur. This unpleasant effect will be most pronounced in conditions where you don't have enough light.

Since the phone is not the most powerful, it will need more time to process the information from the camera.

To improve the Honor 50 Lite's photo capabilities, the manufacturer has come up with artificial intelligence technology and a noise reduction algorithm.

Autonomous operation

The smartphone has received a 4300 mAh battery. Although it is not a record, the final result is decent. The 67W charging support is also at your disposal. So, in about 40-45 minutes, you can have a recharged battery.

If we have to give you a guideline of what to expect from the Honor 50 Lite, you should know that in video watching mode, you can count on up to 14 hours of autonomous work. This benchmark is not the best on the market, but it will meet the expectations of many.

In leaner mode, you can reach for the charger after at least two days.

Conclusion

Despite its name, the Honor 50 Lite turns out to be a heavy and large device. It will delight you with the decent quality of photos with the main camera. The large display will be a joy for any user who likes to watch videos, but with a picture refresh rate of only 60 Hz.

Since the device can't impress with high performance, 5G networks or water protection, the manufacturer company has tried to compensate them with three things: autonomous operation, fast charging and stylish design.

Pros:

  • Attractive design
  • Fast charging technology - can charge 50% of the battery in 15 minutes
  • Large and frameless screen
  • High quality matrix

Minuses:

  • Bulky body and heavy weight
  • 60 Hz screen refresh rate
  • Weak processor

Interesting functions and features

One of the interesting features of the Honor 50 Lite is the reading mode. In it, the color temperature of the display is adjusted according to the environmental conditions. It will be of great help to any user who likes to read before sleeping. The smartphone has the low blue light certification from TÜV Rheinland. This lowers the harmful impact on the user's vision and avoids yellowing of the screen.

Another positive aspect in the Honor 50 Lite is related to the 6.67-inch display that features automatic color temperature conversion. The brightness is adjusted realistically and this adds to the satisfaction of viewing different content on the screen.

If you love reading books on your phone, choose the Honor 50 Lite. It is equipped with a special "e-book" mode, thanks to which you can immerse yourself in your favorite reading material.

When you're looking for more softness in the interface colors and better conditions for getting information from your smartphone during the late hours of the day, we recommend activating the dark mode in Honor 50 lite.

Another highlight of the smartphone profile is Honor Share. Thanks to the presence of NFC and Honor Share, the smartphone can connect to the Honor MagicBook notebook. Thus, you can transfer files and different types of documents from the smartphone to the notebook and vice versa with ease.

Competitors

The direct competitors of Honor 50 Lite are Samsung Galaxy A32, Realme 8 and Oppo Reno 5 Lite.
