Huawei Mate Xs is not the most powerful and technically gifted phone, but it is the most expensive serial model in the world. Even among the foldables! The letter s in its name suggests that it is a refinement of the original model introduced a year earlier. In the Huawei Mate Xs, we see a completely different body, a new screen cover, an improved hinge mechanism and more.

Design
There's almost no one who won't be amazed at the sight of a foldable phone. However, when the Huawei Mate Xs folds outwards rather than inwards, it gets interesting. In the closed state, the device is almost entirely wrapped in the same cover that is placed on the flexible matrix.
Display
The smartphone is equipped with an AMOLED display with a diagonal of 8 inches and a resolution of 2480 x 2200. The physical dimensions of the screen are 136×153 mm. The aspect ratio is 9:8. Pixel density per inch - 414. The width of the frames around the screen is 5 mm on the sides, 4 mm on the top and 5 mm on the bottom. In other words, they are wide.
Performance
At the heart of the Huawei Mate Xs lies a top 8-core single-core HiSilicon Kirin 990 system consisting of 2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.86 GHz, 2 Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.36 GHz and 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.95 GHz. The GPU role is performed by a Mali-G76 MP16 GPU.
RAM is 8 GB, with 512 GB of internal storage. You can't put a memory card in the smartphone, but there is support for Huawei's NM rare memory cards.
Camera
Huawei Mate Xs has a classic set of cameras:
40 MP, 1/1.7″, 27 mm (wide), f/1.8, PDAF;
16 MP, 17 mm (ultra-wide), f/2.2;
8 MP, 81 mm, (tele) f/2.4;
TOF 3D - sensor measuring depth of frame.
Like the company's flagship models, the Mate Xs features a dedicated night mode. In it, the camera takes several shots, then combines them into one. This helps brighten the picture and generally uses lower light sensitivity as the image degrades less.
With this smartphone in hand, you can also shoot in night mode not only with the main unit, but also with the additional ones. This is rarely the case.
The camera of the Mate Xs is capable of shooting video with a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 frames per second. The user has the ability to switch from one lens to another.
Autonomous operation
The Huawei Mate Xs smartphone has a built-in battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh. As you understood, the platform is powerful, the screen is huge - this is a requirement for a stock of a lot of power. This model does not set a record in autonomous work, but guarantees a satisfactory average level of autonomy.
Conclusion
Huawei Mate Xs is a device that there is no question is experimental. It is groping the ground and testing the interest of consumers. Among its merits is definitely the unique form factor with a flexible display. In addition, we should not overlook the powerful hardware platform, beautifully tuned OLED screen and quality cameras. All of these are worth the money the manufacturer is asking in return.
As drawbacks, we can take into account the lack of Google Mobile Services and the potentially fragile construction that goes hand in hand with a slippery body. Finally, we'll mention that the Mate Xs doesn't have the dust and moisture protection that many users have become accustomed to. A minijack is also absent.
