Huawei nova 3i Review

Huawei is a company that boasts a variety of models that are complemented by new attractive creations every year. Interestingly, each device is aimed at a specific user. In the following lines, we will talk specifically about the cute and ergonomic Huawei Nova 3i, which outperforms a number of models from the low price range, but lacks a little to enter the mid-budget one triumphantly. For some, however, it can easily be classified in this group. There's a reason why, and you'll find it out right now.

Design

An inexpensive smartphone can look good and beautiful. So they think at Huawei. The last few years, the company's budget models have been characterized by a distinctive design similar to that of flagship devices. Huawei Nova 3i is no exception. In it, we see a combination of glass and metal, thin frames, a protruding camera module in the left corner and a gradient gradation of colors. This is exactly the kind of thing we see in more expensive models like the Huawei P20 Pro, Nova 3 and Honor 10.

All the corners of the Huawei Nova 3i's body are smooth and pleasant to the touch. In your hand, the phone will lie nice and stable. The weight and dimensions are satisfactorily comfortable for prolonged one-handed operation of the Huawei Nova 3i.

Display

In the Huawei Nova 3i, the company has opted for a 6.3-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The pixel density per inch is 409. Thus, the panel is slightly elongated but comfortable. The aspect ratio is 19.5:9. The maximum brightness is 349 cd/sqm and the minimum is 2 cd/sqm. The viewing angles are wide. The Huawei Nova 3i's display occupies 82.2% of the front panel area, which is a good benchmark for a mid-budget device.

We should also note the availability of the option for the user to lower the resolution from FHD+ to HD+ and hide the notch with a black color.

Performance

Under the hood of the Huawei Nova 3i lies a new Kirin 710 processor consisting of 4 Cortex A-73 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and Mali-G51 MP4 graphics. The performance of the Kirin 710 can be compared to that of the Snapdragon 660. Its power is ample for comfortable gaming on medium settings.

RAM is 4/6 GB and internal memory is 64/128 GB, the latter can be expanded using a microSD card up to 256 GB.

Cameras

Huawei Nova 3i features a modest 16 MP main module with f/2.2 aperture and a 2 MP auxiliary sensor, which is responsible for the background blur effect when shooting in portrait mode. For higher quality photos, Artificial Intelligence that recognizes 22 scenes is provided and implemented in the best way.

The front camera capabilities of Huawei Nova 3i will delight users more. This is mostly because of the two modules - 24 MP with f/2.0 aperture and an auxiliary 2 MP. There are HDR Pro features, artificial intelligence, bokeh mode, 3D effects and 3D Qmoji. Separately, it should be mentioned the ability to save photos in RAW format for post-processing.

With the Huawei Nova 3i in hand, you'll record FullHD resolution video at 30 or 60 frames per second. 4K and electronic stabilization are not available, however. If these are what you're looking for, you should take a look at Huawei's more expensive models.

Autonomous operation

Regarding the autonomy of the Huawei Nova 3i, we must say that the battery has a capacity of 3340 mAh - slightly less than in the Huawei Nova 3 model. However, despite the smaller capacity, the autonomous operation will please you. On a typical phone load, you'll have a day and a half. Watching videos will discharge the battery in about 9 hours, and playing heavy games - in 5 hours.

A 5V/2A power adapter is provided with the Huawei Nova 3i. With this charger, you will have 100% battery charge in an hour and 35 minutes of charging.

Conclusion

Huawei Nova 3i is a wonderful representative for its class. If you opt for it, you get a quality screen, a fast processor, an excellent front-facing camera and an affordable price. Its main competitor on the market right now is the Xiaomi Mi A2, which in turn offers pure Android, better cameras, but falls short to it in terms of design.

If you need an inexpensive smartphone from an established manufacturer in the market, the Huawei Nova 3i is the right choice. It looks like a flagship, features artificial intelligence, and recharges fast enough to keep you going with games, entertainment, and work.
