Huawei nova 7i Review

The Huawei Nova 7i is one of the most interesting mid-range smartphones in recent times. At an affordable price, you get a phone with a trendy design, high performance, a large battery, fast charging technology, plenty of cameras and other features that definitely act as a magnet. What exactly is the Huawei Nova 7i capable of - learn in the following lines.

This Huawei model boasts a high-quality curved three-dimensional rear panel, which has a nice metal frame with beveled edges. As assured by the manufacturer, the back of the Huawei Nova 7i has a special coating that improves its scratch resistance. A pleasant color gradient effect is also noticeable.

The protective coating on the screen of the Huawei Nova 7i protects against unwanted scratches. You will find the device in several colors - pink (Sakura Pink), black (Midnight Black) and green (Midnight Black) with a beautiful gradient design.

A good impression is left by the fact that the screen to panel ratio is 90.6%. The device has comfortable dimensions and is a pleasure to work with.

One of the reasons why you have a justified interest in the Huawei Nova 7i is that it has a beautiful and satisfyingly large screen - 6.4 inches LTPS. Its resolution is FHD+ at a pixel density per inch of 398 inches.

The screen quality is good for this class of smartphones. The images convey the colors accurately. The viewing angles are acceptable and the brightness reserve is second to none - you can comfortably use the Nova 7i in sunny weather.

Inside the Huawei Nova 7i lies the Kirin 810, a mid-range processor based on a 7nm manufacturing process with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.27 GHz and six cores

Cortex-A55 clocked at 1.88 GHz. The chip is complemented by Mali-G52 MP6 graphics and a DaVinci NPU processor.

What can you expect from these specs? Good computing power. It's a pretty powerful mid-range chipset and has flagship-level performance by 2019. Plus, the user gets artificial intelligence. To improve performance, the manufacturer has provided 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.1.

This combination guarantees the user a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The phone is responsive, works without hitches and allows performing multiple tasks simultaneously. The RAM is satisfactorily large. Storage can be expanded using a Huawei NM card.

The games on the Huawei Nova 7i are impressive. Quite a few of them can be played at maximum settings without harming the enjoyable experience. After a few hours of playing in 4G LTE or Wi-Fi mode, the phone shows no heating up.

In terms of the set of technical capabilities - the user has standard and additional features: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS and USB Type-C 1.0 port. There is also a fingerprint scanner. Absent is an NFC module for contactless payments.

Huawei Nova 7i has received a system of four cameras. We see an interesting module designed for mobile photography. If you are a fan of it, continue reading. The main camera is 48 MP with f/1.8 aperture and PDAF and CAF fast focus technology. The main lens is complemented by an 8-megapixel 120-degree f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle module, a 2-megapixel f/2.4 (macro) module, and a 2-megapixel sensor for measuring depth of frame in portrait shots.

There are many modes available to the user that are well known to Huawei fans. These include auto scene detection and optimization, HDR, various filters, aperture, portrait mode with face beautification, night mode and Pro modes.

Thanks to PDAF and CAF technologies, the Nova 7i focuses subjects quickly. The results are excellent, especially in good light. Photos convey details clearly and accurately. Dynamic range is good. Images are neither artificial nor overexposed or oversaturated. With the help of the 6x digital zoom, the image quality is satisfactory.

Shooting with the ultra-wide camera will delight you with beautiful landscapes and interesting shots. If you want to shoot in super close-up, the Nova 7i's macro camera is one of the most attractive for the money. In sufficiently lit situations, it will work perfectly and in detail compared to a number of other budget-class macro cameras.

For the fourth camera on the Nova 7i, which is 2MP, we have to say that it's designed for shots with artificially blurred backgrounds in a mirrorless or bokeh camera style. The mode does a pretty good job of fixing the background. In lower light, you can expect noise, but it's barely noticeable.

The Nova 7i's front-facing camera is a 16-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture. It also supports artificial intelligence for automatic scene detection and optimization, 10 levels of facial beautification in portrait mode, various background blur effects, and AR mode with 3D Qmojis effects. You'll also like this device for offering a night mode for the selfie camera.

As for video, with the Nova 7i in hand, you can record videos up to 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second using the primary, wide-angle and selfie cameras. Of course, you can also take slow-motion photos. Absent are 60 or 30 frames per second shooting modes.

Autonomous operation

The battery capacity is 4200 mAh. Fully charging the Nova 7i requires a maximum of an hour, thanks to Huawei's support for SuperCharge fast charging technology. In half an hour you will have 70% of the charge level. With moderate use - calls, internet, watching videos and checking social networks, you can count on up to 2 days of autonomous operation.

The Nova 7i is Huawei's strong bid in the fight for consumer attention. This mid-range model has many positives - stylish and modern design, excellent speed, long autonomous work and super fast charging. We should not forget the powerful cameras!

If you have decided to buy this model, you should know that it runs Android 10 operating system. However, Google services are absent. In their place, Huawei has put HMS (Huawei Mobile Service). Instead of Google Play, the App Gallery app store is available.

  • Fast processor;
  • Quality build;
  • Beautiful back with gradient effect;
  • Satisfactory autonomy;
  • Quality cameras for a mid-range device;
  • Allows 2 SIM cards;
  • Attractively low price.

  • Absence of 4K video shooting capability and EIS stabilization;
  • Sound quality could have been better.
