Intro

In the summer of 2021, Huawei unveiled an interesting addition to its family of smartphones. It's called the Nova 8i and comes just after the Nova 8 premiered. Right here we should say that the Huawei Nova 8i is not a stripped down version of its predecessor. It is a completely new product and has something to catch the attention of modern consumers. It will impress you with a beautiful body design, quad main camera, excellent music capabilities and a back that leaves almost no fingerprint marks. Also of note is the lightning-fast battery recharge, which will appeal to anyone with a dynamic daily routine.

Design

On the back of the device we see four lenses that are positioned in a circle, protruding slightly above the level of the housing. We have seen something similar in Nokia and Xiaomi devices. It is noteworthy how the light beautifully plays, reflecting in the back of Huawei Nova 8i. The smartphone is available in several colours - silver, blue and black. You will hardly see any fingerprints on the casing.

As for the dimensions, they are satisfyingly large. The weight is a bit high, although the battery has a capacity of 4300 mAh.

The face is almost entirely just a screen. The front camera is positioned in the top right corner, which has become something of a tradition in recent years.

Display

The Huawei Nova 8i may not have a 90 Hz screen refresh rate, but it pleases with a beautiful and large 6.67-inch IPS LCD display. The bezels are slim. The display looks spectacular and has a maximum brightness of 420 cd/sqm, which is quite normal for this class of devices. The resolution is 1080 x 2376 pixels. The matrix impresses - maximum viewing angles, juicy and bright colors, vivid picture.

Performance

In Huawei Nova 8i are placed 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Space for a memory card is not provided. For some, this may seem strange. The internal storage is high speed for its class.

At the heart of the device we also find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chip. It was introduced about a year ago and is designed for the smartphones of the middle price category. It consists of two clusters - four Kryo 260 (Cortex-A73) cores and another four Kryo 260 (Cortex-A53). Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and QC 3.0 support is provided.

An excellent impression is that the Huawei Nova 8i almost does not heat up on prolonged heating.

Cameras

These days, many manufacturers have a habit of equipping their smartphones with useless lenses to attract the interest of consumers. In the Huawei Nova 8i, we see a good selection. The main camera consists of a 64-megapixel main module with an f/1.9 aperture. It is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture and two auxiliary modules of 2 MP each with depth-of-frame metering and macro functions.

The front camera of the device is a single, 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture.

During the day, the Huawei Nova 8i's main camera shoots well - colours are accurate and detail is adequate. Once the sun hides behind the clouds, however, the footage gets darker. The wide-angle camera has typical specs. To make the most of its capabilities, choose your lighting well.

Capturing video with the Huawei Nova 8i is easy, but lacks the picture stabilization.

Autonomous operation

This 2021 Huawei model is equipped with a 4300 mAh battery. Its autonomous operation can be described as modest. You have 7.5 hours of continuous video viewing at maximum screen brightness or 6.5 hours of gaming. With an average load, you can count on a full day.

Charging the Huawei Nova 8i is lightning fast. It takes less than 50 minutes. 50% of the battery charge is recovered in just 15 minutes.

Conclusion

Huawei Nova 8i makes a good impression with its features. They match its price and will satisfy most users. Here is the time to mention that the device has good music capabilities. Its beautiful design looks modern and is worthy to complement your style.

It should be noted that it offers no Google services, no 90 Hz screen refresh and no memory card slot. The cameras, however, are up to the task just fine.

Among the undeniable pros of the Huawei Nova 8i are the nice IPS display and the thin bezels around it. The processor doesn't heat up the casing under load, and the battery recharge adapter is super powerful.
