Design

In the vision of Huawei Nova 9 you will not find anything new. Its shape is the same as the Huawei P series devices. While other manufacturers strive to satisfy the longings of consumers are a new design, Huawei relies on the tried format. It certainly has admirers. Pleasantly rounded edges of the housing contribute to the comfortable handling of the Huawei Nova 9. The smartphone is beautiful, lightweight and only 7.77 mm thick. Weighing in at well under 200 grams.

The camera unit is shaped fresh and interesting. The modules protrude slightly above the body. The front camera in turn is in a circular notch in the screen matrix. It is single and an additional infrared sensor is absent next to it. Unlocking the Huawei Nova 9 on the user's face works quickly even in the dark.

As for the fingerprint scanner, it is below the screen and is optical. It works quickly and adequately.

Huawei Nova 9 can be yours in four colors - sky blue, green, violet and black. Note that its casing has no protection against water and dust.

Display

The smartphone comes with a 6.57-inch AMOLED display, 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution and glass with highly curved edges. The aspect ratio is 19.5:9 and the pixel density per inch is 392. The width of the frame around the tap is minimal on both sides and greatest at the bottom - about 5 mm. The manufacturer has provided a picture refresh rate of 120 Hz.

There is no way not to note that the front side of the screen is mirrored and scratch-resistant. The viewing angles are satisfactory. Even the white colour varies only slightly on deflection. The black colour remains so at any angle.

Performance

The Huawei Nova 9 is based on a Qualcomm SM7325 Snapdragon 778G 4G single-chip system consisting of 8 processor cores - four Cortex-A78 clocked up to 2.4 GHz and another four Cortex-A55 clocked up to 1.8 GHz. In the GPU role, we see the Adreno 642L GPU. RAM is 8GB and storage can be 64 or 128 GB depending on the modification. No memory card option is provided.

Huawei Nova 9 supports connecting to external devices using USB Type-C port in USB OTG mode.

Cameras

The smartphone is equipped with a quad rear camera, two of whose modules are auxiliary. The main camera is a 50-megapixel one and is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module. The other two cameras respectively measure the depth of the scene and serve for macro photos. Both are 2-megapixel.

The main 50MP module shoots at 12.5 MP resolution by default. You can change this from the settings. It is complemented by fast phase autofocus, but no stabilizer.

The Huawei Nova 9 is the first smartphone in the series to have received the XD Fusion Engine image enhancement technology. It uses sophisticated algorithms to enhance detail and overall picture quality. The system enhances photos and videos.

The macro module will impress you with excellent results. In night shooting mode, expect footage of decent quality for this price range.

With the Huawei Nova 9 in hand, you'll be able to shoot 4K videos at 30fps or 1080 resolution at 60fps. Electronic stabilization is available.

The selfie camera is 32-megapixel and shows high detail with excellent contrast, brightness and color rendition. Background blur in portrait mode may provoke some criticism.

Autonomous operation

The smartphone is equipped with a 4300 mAh battery. In video watching mode, the charge will last you for 11 hours. Huawei Nova 9 supports fast charging technology with 66W power. In about 40 minutes, the included charger will give you a new 100% battery. There is no wireless charging, but there is the reverse. That is, you can use the smartphone as an external battery.

Conclusion

The Huawei Nova 9 has a beautiful look, a nice touch body and a range of advanced features. Its main technical capabilities are decent, among them the picture update rate, the platform from Qualcomm, good performance and fast charging impress. The cameras will satisfy most users.
