Huawei P Smart Z review

On a summer day, Huawei introduced the new addition to the P smart series with the Z index. The device is equipped with unusual parameters and technologies. In addition, it comes at an attractive price.

The smartphone Huawei P smart Z is unique in that on its front panel there is no front camera. It is equipped with a selfie-module, which is pulled out from the top of the housing. Such phones definitely pique the interest of consumers who want to differentiate themselves.

Design

Serious design decisions in Huawei P smart Z you will not find. This is a typical device from the Huawei family. For the rear panel, the manufacturer has chosen a glass surface with an overflow. Almost the entire front panel is occupied by a giant 6.6-inch screen. Its bezels are minimal.

The frames of the smartphone themselves betray the belonging of Huawei P smart Z to the budget class. They are made of plastic.

At the bottom of the device are located speaker, USB Type-C port and 3.5 mm audio jack. On the top, there is a removable front camera, which we will talk about in a bit.

Display

We've already mentioned what its diagonal is. It remains to note that the matrix is IPS. The screen has a resolution of FullHD+ (1080x2312 pixels). The color rendering is not bad, but the viewing angles and the small brightness margin immediately betray the non-prime origin of the Huawei P Smart Z.

Performance

The smartphone is based on an 8-core Kirin 710 processor and 4 GB of RAM. It's not the most powerful solution on the market today, but it offers enough performance to carry out typical tasks, play games and watch videos. If you're a fan of heavy gaming, look for a model in a different price range.

Cameras

The Huawei P smart Z features two modules and artificial intelligence, which is not a bad combination considering the price range.

The main module is a 16-megapixel (f/1.8) and the auxiliary one is a 2-megapixel. The latter is tasked with blurring the background of portrait shots. Overall, the cameras do their jobs well. They take excellent pictures in sufficient daylight. Portrait shots are interesting, as if the camera was made especially for them.

For late day and indoor shots, you'll need to practice. With more practice, you can take decent shots to post on social media.

Considering that the regular consumer isn't seriously into night shooting, the cameras can't be termed as a significant drawback of the Huawei P smart Z.

For the front camera, we can say that it has a 16-megapixel module and shoots at the level of the main one. Do not expect miracles. Good news is that it is hidden in the body of the phone and is not in your sight most of the time. If you rarely take selfies, you'll barely know it exists.

Autonomous operation

The battery capacity of the Huawei P smart Z is 4000 mAh. With an average load, the smartphone will serve you for two days. If you play games or perform other resource-intensive tasks, the charge will melt faster.

Huawei has provided neither fast nor wireless charging technology.

Conclusion

Huawei P smart Z is one of the affordable smartphones in the market with a slide out camera. It features an almost bezel-less screen design.

To its cons, we can take the average photo quality and the plastic body. Everything else - IPS screen matrix, presence of NFC chip, autonomous operation and pop-up camera, are serious pros.
