Design

The Huawei P30 pro is available in several colour options. The casing interestingly plays with light, which can be counted as a plus. The device is protected against water according to the IP68 standard. In other words, you can swim with it. Just in case - keep it away from water. The risk is not worth it.

In Huawei have given up on the 3.5 mm audio jack. Keep this in mind when looking at the device. Don't overlook the fact that the Huawei P30 pro is built on a classic scheme. Aluminum chassis, Gorilla Glass on the front and rear surface. The robustness of the body is on par.

The dimensions of the Huawei P30 pro are 158 x 73.4 x 8.4 mm. It weighs 192 grams.

In the hand, the Huawei P30 pro lies pleasantly well. You can work with it with one hand.

Display

The screen specifications are as follows: 6.47 inches, resolution 2340 x 1090 pixels (FullHD+), 398 ppi, AMOLED, 19.5:9. The manufacturer has provided automatic brightness adjustment and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass. The absence of QHD resolution, unlike the Mate 20 Pro, is identified by some experts as a major downside of the Huawei P30 pro.

We mentioned that the device offers automatic brightness adjustment. It sometimes offers a darker screen than desired. Here comes the role of the user who can adjust the parameter. You can also adjust the color mode and temperature.

Huawei P30 pro features a vision protection mode. Then the display works with warmer colors.

Performance and memory

The HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset lies at the heart of the Huawei P30 pro. This top solution offers an 8-core processor in which two Cortex A76 cores run at up to 2.6 GHz, two cores run at up to 1.92 GHz, and another four Cortex A55 cores run at up to 1.8 GHz. This is the first refreshed processor based on 7nm technology, which was co-developed with TSMC.

The graphics in the Huawei P30 pro is assigned to Mali-G76. There has been a 46% increase in performance and a 178% improvement in power consumption compared to the previous Kirin. The smartphone is one of the best performing smartphones on the market today.

The Huawei P30 pro features 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. There is also a modification with 8/512 GB. The user has the option to use a memory card.

This model of Huawei is super performant. Combined with 8 GB of RAM, the system responds quickly to commands and runs very smoothly. In tests, the P30 Pro achieves high scores comparable only to those of the flagship devices Samsung Galaxy S10+ and iPhone Xs Max.

In addition, the smartphone is protected against water and dust to IP68 standard. It works fast on LTE networks. It comes factory-installed with Android 9.0 Pie operating system and EMUI 9.1 interface.

Cameras

The Huawei P30 pro features a triple camera: 40 MP (f/1.6) + 20 MP (f/2.2) + 8 MP (f/3.4), ToF sensor, AI support and a 32-megapixel front camera.

The key feature of this Huawei smartphone is the triple camera. It is what has established the company's position as a camera phone manufacturer. The model has received a 40 MP main camera, a 20 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8-megapixel camera that provides five times optical or ten times digital zoom. Of the three cameras, only the wide-angle camera is without an optical stabilizer.

Next to the cameras is a so-called Time Of Flight sensor (ToF). It receives information about the depth of space: it measures the time it takes light to get from the lens to the subject of the photograph and vice versa. According to Huawei's assurances in portrait photography, the sensor provides a better and more natural bokeh effect with several degrees of blur in the background.

Indeed, the Huawei P30 pro's shots turn out as natural as possible.

The 20-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera allows the user to capture more scenes. Ideal for urban landscapes. Enriches creative possibilities. During the day, this camera takes superb shots. At night, the aperture does not allow enough light to be transmitted to the matrix. The absence of optical stabilisation also has an impact.

Another innovation in the Huawei P30 pro is an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. It uses a periscope design. Light falls on the matrix, reflecting off a mirror and passing through 5 lenses.

The front camera is a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture. In it, the user gets a rich set of visual effects and also the ability to blur the background.

Fingerprint scanner

Like the Mate 20 Pro, there's a fingerprint scanner in this Huawei model that's located directly in the display. The manufacturing company has used optical technology where a small area of the scanner screen is strongly illuminated, allowing the sensor to read the fingerprint.

In the P30 Pro, the user also gets the option to unlock the display via a facial recognition feature. The scan works well and is hard to fool with the help of a photo or video.

Autonomous operation

A Li-Pol battery with a capacity of 4200 mAh is built into the smartphone. SuperCharge 2 fast charging technology is supported. A full battery charge is possible in 65 minutes. There is built-in Qi wireless charging.

It is noteworthy that the Huawei P30 pro has the ability to wirelessly charge other devices.

Considering the battery capacity, the non-record screen resolution and the regulated power consumption through algorithms, the Huawei P30 pro will be available for a satisfyingly long time.

Conclusion

The Huawei P30 pro is an excellent phone. We don't find many novelties in it. In essence, it resembles the Mate 20 Pro model a lot. It has an excellent camera, the main thing about it is the optical fivefold zoom.

The smartphone offers enviable capabilities. The user gets a quality screen, good performance and autonomous work at a superb level. The casing has a nice design.
