Design

Visually, at first glance, the unassuming Huawei Y8s doesn't look like a state-of-the-art smartphone, but the manufacturer has made an effort to update its look. For example, we find a dual front camera. The rear camera unit, on the other hand, protrudes slightly from the level of the housing, so it is advisable to use a case. This will protect it and work with pleasure with the smartphone for a longer time.

In the Huawei Y8s, the fingerprint scanner is not located on the side, as in most mid-budget smartphones, but on the back. It's a convenient solution that, if you're not used to it, you'll find it's a matter of a day or two to get right. All the control buttons for convenience are located on the right side.

The unit comes with a two-tone casing in green or black. The black model will appeal to people who are looking for a device in a strict style. We recommend the green one to anyone who wants to be charged with positive energy looking at their smartphone. As for the dimensions, they are standard for modern models - 162.4 x 77.1 x 8.1 at a weight of 180 grams. In other words, you can comfortably work with Huawei Y8s, even with one hand. You won't wonder where to stow it, as it's not as bulky as a shovel.

Display

The screen diagonal of the Huawei Y8s is 6.5 inches with an aspect ratio of 19.5 x 9 inches. It allows you to handle different types of content. In particular, to watch videos, read, or browse the Internet carefree in search of important information. You can also create working documents.

The matrix is an IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2340. The color rendering is pleasing with great viewing angles and brightness reserve. The display occupies 82.8% of the front panel area.

Performance

The configuration in the Huawei Y8s is handled by a mid-budget Hisilicon Kirin 710 processor (4x2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 + 4x1.7 GHz Cortex-A53), which combined with 4 GB of RAM runs most modern apps and also games smoothly. The chipset is made using 12nm process technology. The graphics is assigned to a Mali-G51 MP4 core. The internal memory can be 64 or 128 GB. Fast RAM is supported and storage can be increased using a microSDXC card.

Cameras

Our lifestyle involves taking a lot of photos and videos. That's why smartphone manufacturers spare no effort to look for new technological solutions for the cameras of their devices. Specifically in the Huawei Y8s you get a rear camera that is dual. Its main sensor is 48 MP, and the second one is responsible for the depth of the frame and is 2 MP. A wide-format camera is not provided, but a special mode for night shots is provided.

The front camera of the Huawei Y8s is also dual, but it has 8 MP (f/2.0) and 5 MP (f/2.4) sensors.

The quality of the photos is in line with this class of devices. You can't expect miracles, but in practice and with the right modes you can boast good results. After all, this is a Huawei product!

With the Huawei Y8s, you can shoot videos with a resolution of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.

Autonomous operation

The Huawei Y8s features a non-removable 4000mAh battery, which is sufficient for up to two days of use. The manufacturer has also provided 10W fast charging technology.

Conclusion

This Huawei model can be used for many things. As long as you don't expect much from its design, it is suitable for browsing the web, taking photos and videos to share on social networks. Plus, its size and weight make it comfortable to use with a large hand. The presence of a dual selfie camera automatically makes this Huawei model a coveted product by all youngsters.

Finally, we will specify that Huawei Y8s runs Android 9.0 (Pie) and EMUI 9.1.
