Design

They worked on the design of the Motorola Edge 20 with love and dedication. The clear rectangular edges immediately make an impression. This is a breath of fresh air against the hundreds of models with rounded shapes. The body looks cool and impressive.

In addition, the smartphone is light. When you take it in your hands, you will make sure of it. Impressive and thickness - less than 8 mm.

The frames around the screen could have been thinner, but they weren't huge. The lower and upper frames are the same width. The manufacturer has provided protection for the display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This is not the latest version, but it provides reliability.

The oleophobic coating is not bad. Very few traces remain on the glass after interaction.

The frames, which are made of aluminum, are interestingly executed. Their flat part is slightly matte. This enlivens the device.

Display

Motorola Edge 20 has a 6.7-inch OLED matrix that pleases the eye and supports HDR10 + technology. The picture is juicy, the viewing angles - maximum. The depth of black - high.

The main advantage of the smartphone screen is the refresh rate - 144 Hz. In other Moto models it is 90 Hz, and in many competitors - 120 Hz. Sun readability is not bad.

Productivity

Motorola Edge 20 works with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset - a fresh solution from the spring of 2021 with a 5G modem for mid-range smartphones. The 778G processor is made of 6 nm processor, has 8 cores, one of which runs at up to 2.4 GHz, three - up to 2.2 GHz, and four more - up to 1.9 GHz.

The chipset is complemented by the Adreno 642L graphics core, which is 40% more energy efficient than its predecessor. There is also 8 GB of RAM on board and 128 or 256 GB of storage. When choosing a modification, correctly consider how much memory you need, as the manufacturer has not provided a memory card slot.

The smartphone comes with the Android 11 operating system at the factory.

Cameras

We come to the photographic capabilities of the Motorola Edge 20. Traditionally, the company emphasizes this feature. The device is equipped with a triple rear camera. The main module is 108-megapixel and is complemented by an 8-megapixel module with 3x optical zoom and 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens. The latter handles macro photography perfectly. There is also a dual LED flash.

The main camera of the Motorola Edge 20 uses a 108 MP sensor Samsung ISOCELL HM2 with a size of 1 / 1.52 inches, 0.7 microns and a lens with a width of 24 mm f / 1.9. Pixel merging technology is used. At the output you have 12 MP photos that are clear and detailed. Stabilization is electronic. Night mode only supports the main lens.

The ultra-wide angle camera must be said to have an aperture of f / 2.2. Thanks to the presence of autofocus, you can take macro shots from a distance of 4-8 cm.

The selfie camera also deserves attention. The sensor is OmniVision OV32B40 with aperture f / 2.3. The focus is fixed. The quality is good for daily photos. The colors are nice, close to real.

Autonomous work

The slim and stylish body of the Motorola Edge 20 is achieved with a slight compromise in terms of battery capacity. If in most models of the brand lately they are betting on 5000 mAh and above, then here we have 4000 mAh. In tests, however, the device shows good results. With a screen brightness above average, you can surf for 10 hours and 45 minutes or spend almost 18 hours in video playback mode at medium brightness. This figure is comparable to what the Samsung Galaxy A52 offers.

The manufacturer has provided 30W fast charging technology. The TurboPower power supply supports the USB Power Delivery standard. You can use it to charge other compatible devices, such as laptops.

Wireless charging is not supported.

Conclusion

Motorola Edge 20 is another good offer from Motorola. In this price category there are few models with OLED screen with 144 Hz update. In addition, we have an excellent design - light and thin device, protection against moisture according to the IP52 standard, production processor, enough memory, impressive cameras and optimized operating system. We should also mention the Ready For option for using the Motorola Edge 20 as a PC without cables with a monitor or TV.
