Design
In appearance, the Moto E5 Play looks like a typical basic model. Its back panel is removable and made of textured plastic. The display has thick bezels. The look of the Moto E5 Play is not advanced. It is far from the new design interpretations that flagship models offer. Thanks to the curved sides and corners, the device is comfortable to carry in hand.
A circular camera with LED flash is positioned on the back of the Moto E5 Play. Below it is the Motorola logo, which is actually a fingerprint scanner as well. On the right side of the body are the power and volume buttons.
For the Moto E5 Play, you should also know that it is not water and dust proof, but it does survive splashes. The model is available in three color options.
The dimensions of the device - 151 x 74 x 9 mm, suggest that it is super comfortable to use. It will easily fit in your jeans or jacket pocket. Its weight is only 150 grams.
Display
This E-series model has a relatively large 5.2-inch diagonal screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The pixel density per inch is 282. You can slightly notice the pixels on the display. However, this is not a big minus. The Moto E5 Play's screen does a great job in all lighting conditions. Its brightness is ample enough to read information even on a sunny day.
The screen occupies 66.7% of the front panel area. This indicator is low by modern standards, but it is not determinant of comfort while using the device.
Performance
The Moto E5 Play has at its heart a Snapdragon 435 processor consisting of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 1.4 GHz. Adreno 308 is responsible for the graphics. The RAM is 2 GB and the internal memory is 16 GB. Good news for those of you who intend to store more photos, videos, music and other files on the smartphone is the ability to use a memory card up to 256 GB. The operating system is older - Android 8.0 (Oreo).
The Snapdragon 435 processor itself is designed for lighter work tasks. However, with the right combination of software and hardware specs, it can deliver high speed and smoothness for everyday tasks. Moto E5 Play is not made for gamers. However, it perfectly handles its responsibilities even if you have multiple apps open.
Cameras
Do you love taking pictures? The Moto E5 Play is equipped with a single 8 MP rear camera with LED flash. The photos will be of satisfactory quality in most cases. With a decent level of contrast, saturation and detail for this class of devices.
The Moto E5 Play has a 5 MP front camera that also has a flash. Selfies with it will be at a mediocre level. With more practice and making the most of the settings, you can improve their quality.
With this Motorola model, you'll be creating videos at 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second. They will feature medium quality detail and slightly animated color rendition.
Autonomous operation
The Moto E5 Play features a removable battery with a capacity of 2800 mAh. In terms of autonomy, it can't offer record-breaking performance. With a moderate usage, without unnecessary indulgence in prolonged gaming, you can count on a charge by the end of the day. The Moto E5 Play comes with a 10W charger.
Conclusion
The Moto E5 Play is an excellent choice of smartphone for users who don't have high expectations from it. It is suitable for children. As a first device, it will reveal the basic potential of modern models. For its price, it offers good features. Another advantage of the Moto E5 Play, besides the affordable price, is the clean interface, which you quickly navigate. The stabilization when shooting video is commendable. Autonomous operation is on par, as is the display quality. It pleases with its brightness.
As a plus can be defined the protection against splashes, as well as the fast and precise operation of the fingerprint scanner, with which you will be confident in the security of your personal data.
Among the disadvantages of the model are the low pixel density of the display and the possibility of video frames becoming grainy.
