Design

Motorola One Zoom impresses with the matte glass on the back of the body. It looks sensational. On the front, the manufacturer has opted for Panda King Glass protective glass and on the back, Gorilla Glass 3. In addition, a slight gradation of colors is perceptible. Thus, the look of the Motorola One Zoom takes shape not only good, but downright magnificent. The casing does an excellent job of hiding fingerprints.

The appearance of the smartphone is visually complemented by the apt placement of the four-camera module and the illuminated Motorola logo, which takes on the role of a notification indicator. The rest is made of metal, not chrome-plated plastic as in cheaper models on the market.

Currently, the Motorola One Zoom is one of the most beautiful smartphones on the market, especially among devices in this price range.

The only downside of the body is the alarming feeling that it is a bit slippery. You can solve this problem with a proper case.

In the Motorola One Zoom, the company for the first time provides a fingerprint scanner located in the screen. It highlights the modern nature of the phone and is more convenient to use in a car holder. The scanner itself works slower than what we know as standard on more expensive competitors.

This Motorola model is protected against dust and water splashes.

The smartphone is available in three colours: violet, black and brown.

Display

The screen of Motorola One Zoom has a diagonal of 6.4 inches, FHD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, aspect ratio of 19:9. It is made using OLED Max Vision technology and occupies 85% of the front panel.

As expected from OLED technology, the Motorola One Zoom's screen offers good viewing angles, high contrast, saturated colors and a pleasing picture. It's not as bright as Samsung's best panels, but in everything else it's perfect.

In the phone's settings, you'll find a night mode and three color profiles. There are also options to preview notifications in the app.

A feature of the Motorola One Zoom is the sensors that light up the display the moment you bring your hand close to the device.

Performance

The phone's performance is sufficient for comfortable interaction. The only downside is that heavier games cannot be played with the highest graphics settings.

Motorola One Zoom is based on Snapdragon 675 processor from Qualcomm company, which is a representative of the middle class. The performance of the smartphone is supported by 4 GB of RAM. The internal memory is 128 GB. That is to say, we do not have flagship features here, but if we are to be objective, they are enough for a pleasant and smooth operation. Not all users need a smartphone with incredible process power. Not everyone plays heavy games all day.

Cameras

Motorola One Zoom has received 4 lenses on the main camera. Three of them take pictures and the fourth one plays an auxiliary role. The fifth camera, i.e. the front camera, is used are selfies.

The main lens is a 48-megapixel with f/1.7, 1.6-megapixel, OIS and PDAF create 12 MP resolution photos with support for four-pixel technology. The 16-megapixel wide-angle camera has a 117-degree field of view. Apart from the tom in the Motorola One Zoom, the user gets an 8 MP telephoto lens equipped with triple optical zoom and optical image stabilization OIS. For depth sensing, a 5 MP sensor is embedded. The front camera is a 25 MP with f/2.0.

The cameras on the Motorola One Zoom use the familiar proprietary app, whose interface is no different from the other smartphones in the series. The settings can include HDR mode, photo optimization, Google-camera and more. Smart composition retains two versions of the photos. There are more special settings in the app according to the shooting conditions.

The photo quality from the main camera is similar to what the Motorola One Vision achieves. The effects are similar, even identical. The lens handles most situations well. The photos appear to have sufficient tonal range, detail and are pleasing to the eye.

In more complex environmental conditions, the night mode combined with optical stabilization offers not bad results. When the night scene is completely devoid of light, you may notice a sharp drop in quality.

As for video, with the Motorola One Zoom you have the ability to shoot 4K video. It features good quality and detail.

Autonomous operation

This Motorola model has a 4000 mAh battery and an 18W charger. In the course of tests, it shows that there will be a need to recharge after over 9 hours of continuous video playback at 50% display brightness.
According to the manufacturer's claims, Motorola One Zoom offers up to 2 days of operation in moderate mode.

A full battery recharge takes 127 minutes. In comparison, that of the Motorola One Action model requires 157 minutes, and the Google Pixel 3a - 90 minutes.

Features

The Moto One Zoom gets a single multimedia speaker. The volume is average, but the quality is decent. The bass is good. The interface of the device is on high. Motorola has never used a heavy interface. As a result, the One Zoom is excellently optimized. The device runs Android 9 Pie at the factory

Conclusion

Motorola One Zoom is a quality made smartphone that offers a good OLED screen and a great battery. The set of four cameras has its strengths and weaknesses. Here and there it outperforms competitors, here and there it still can't match them on some metrics. This Motorola model is a strong competitor to other devices in this class. One of the memorable premieres at IFA 2019. Yes, it may not be the top flagship and not the most powerful gaming platform, but it offers a unique design and a memorable glowing Motorola logo.
