Nokia G50 Review

In September 2021, HMD Global unveiled a new addition to its ranks - the Nokia G50. It can be said with confidence that this is a typical model that comes at an affordable price and supports 5G networks. It also comes with some of the latest advanced features and some compromises, among which we can point out the 3.5mm audio port.

The Nokia G50 is equipped with a decent set of cameras and will delight you with a super-long battery life. There's a lot more to say about it - so we suggest you continue reading the next lines.

Design

Nokia's new device is slightly heavier than the standard one, but that's to be expected given the large battery we mentioned to you earlier. Visually, the device also makes an impression in that the bezel below the screen is a bit bigger. However, this doesn't detract from the overall look of the Nokia G50. It looks modern and interesting. The back panel, although plastic, has a pleasantly smooth surface. The bevelled edges add to the comfort during use.

The device is available in two colours - ocean blue and rose gold. They sound attractive. The same assessment can be given to the camera block on the rear panel - it has a design that is specific. It immediately makes the Nokia G50 stand out in the market.

The fingerprint scanner is side-mounted. It is conveniently placed and pleases with speed and adequacy. With its help, you will keep your personal information away from foreign eyes.

Display

There are a few compromises in the Nokia G50 and one of them relates to the display panel. We see it in the resolution and in the picture refresh rate. Otherwise, the smartphone is equipped with a satisfactorily large display - it has a diagonal of 6.82 inches and has a resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels. The picture is clear and colourful. However, it is not bright enough to work smoothly with Nokia G50 outdoors when the sun is shining brightly outside.

Performance

At the heart of the Nokia G50 lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset, which consists of an 8-core dual-core Kryo 460 processor clocked up to 2 GHz and a 6-core Kryo 460 clocked up to 1.8 GHz. The graphics is assigned to Adreno 619. RAM is 4 GB and storage is 128 GB. The latter can be expanded if needed using a microSDXC memory card. The factory operating system is Android 11 and offers all the modern features for a more comfortable handling of the device.

The performance of Nokia G50 is better than expected and yet far from flagship. You'll only experience slowdowns when loading heavier games and apps and processing photos and videos.

Cameras

Nokia G50 is equipped with a triple rear camera. They work well for the price of the phone. The main unit is 48-megapixel and goes with dual LED flash. It is complemented by an ultra-wide angle 5-megapixel sensor that captures many more objects and faces. In turn, the 2-megapixel module is tasked with creating macro shots. You'll be pleased with its capabilities.

In terms of the Nokia G50's actual capabilities, its cameras offer above average quality. With it, you can create shots with a bokeh effect. The colors are accurate both when you shoot indoors and out on the street. Shooting in 48-megapixel mode adds more clarity and color.

The Nokia G50's front-facing camera is a single, 8-megapixel camera and comes with a range of standard shooting modes. It can record videos at 1080 pixels resolution.

Autonomous operation

Nokia G50 is equipped with a lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh. Its full recharge takes about 2.5 hours. With a standard load on the device, you can count on a day-a day and a half. When you're constantly playing games, watching videos or taking photos, you'll expect the battery to drain faster.

Conclusion

The Nokia G50 is one of the cheapest smartphones of 2021 to offer support for 5G networks. It has an interesting design, comfortable dimensions and a set of advanced features that make it a worthy assistant in the performance of everyday responsibilities.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that it can work with 2 SIM cards, has a memory card slot and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It is protected against moisture and dust to IP68 standard.

Among its undeniable pros are the large display and the large battery, which provides an enviable autonomous work.
