Oppo A54s Review

If you're looking for an inexpensive smartphone, take a look at the Oppo A54s. It's both attractive and supports 5G networks. Plus, it'll give you better performance than many other competitors on the market.

Another reason to choose it is its triple rear camera, whose main sensor is 50 MP. The Oppo A54s is an excellent choice for users who need a quality camera, but don't want to spend money on a flagship in vain.

Design

While the Oppo A54s looks a lot like its predecessors, it does have its differences. The device isn't light, it lies steady in the palm and there's no chance you won't feel it in your pocket. Its casing is made of plastic and is not protected against moisture or dust. At the same time, it looks beautiful and modern. Oppo has gone for three colours - blue, silver and black. All three look bright and stylish. Curiously, there aren't as many fingerprints accumulating on the body as on other phones.

On the front, quite expectedly, the front camera is positioned in a notch. It is located in the center of the screen, at the top. It's small enough that you don't notice it most of the time.

The fingerprint scanner is housed in the power button on the right side of the phone. This solution is not as convenient as if it were built into the display. However, it is convenient for many users, and perhaps for you as well.

On the back of the Oppo A54s, we see another three-camera unit. They protrude slightly above the level of the body.

Display

The smartphone offers a 6.52-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, surrounded by thin bezels. Its maximum brightness is 480 nits, which is ample for comfortable indoor and even outdoor use. We also find a typical picture refresh rate of 60 Hz. It's to be expected from a budget phone and means you shouldn't rely on extra smoothness. Overall, however, you won't detect picture slowdown when watching video or playing games.

Performance

The Oppo A54s is based on the MediaTek Helio G35 and PowerVR GE8320 graphics. It comes in two configurations - with 4 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The latter is not expandable, which can be counted as a slight minus by those users who have a habit of hoarding photos and videos.

The chipset isn't the fastest, and combined with the other specs, it speaks for the fact that it won't provide a good experience when doing many tasks at once. Heavy games will run slow.

The smartphone factory launches with Android 11 and works alongside Oppo ColorOS.

Cameras

The Oppo A54s features a triple rear camera, whose primary module, as we mentioned at the very beginning, is 50 MP. It supports HDR and up to 5x digital zoom. It is complemented by a macro lens and a depth sensor. Both are weak.

On the front panel is the 8MP selfie camera, which will do a good job for video calls and selfies.

Both the front and rear cameras can shoot videos at up to 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.

Overall, the Oppo A54s' photo capabilities are good for the price range. It will take good outdoor shots in which key details are captured. The digital zoom up to 2x behaves well.

In the camera menu, you will find a night mode. It's not perfect, but it will help improve your night shots.

Autonomous operation

The Oppo A54s has a 5000mAh battery and provides decent autonomy time. The manufacturer hasn't provided wireless charging technology or else fast. This can be noted as a bit conservative given the entry of this feature in a number of other budget devices.

This Oppo model can provide you with over a day of autonomous operation under heavy usage.

Conclusion

The Oppo A54s is a wonderful model from 2021. It is made competently and is reliable. It will do with every single daily task. You won't find any unnecessary features like moisture and dust protection or a protective glass in it for relaxed users. One of its main plus points is the rear camera.

On its large screen, you'll be happy to watch videos and surf. It shows even the smallest objects in detail. The autonomous operation also contributes to comfortable use. More sparing use will provide you with over two nights.
