Realme 8 review

The Realme 8 is inspired by the flagship Realme 8 Pro, but has slightly trimmed features to position it in the budget class. The Chinese manufacturer has left out the most important thing - competitive power. It is this that gives it a serious advantage over more analogous offerings on the market.

Design

In appearance, the Realme 8 looks magnificent. It is decided in silver or black. Both options are equally attractive, and the perfect craftsmanship completes the positive impression. The back is divided into two parts - one with a matte surface and the other with a glossy one. On the latter, the brand slogan is applied. The back of the Realme 8's case is also appealing in that there is an area under the camera unit that plays nicely with the colors. The result is something like a rainbow.

From there on, the look seems familiar. We have a block of four lenses in a square module that protrudes slightly above the housing. On the front, the front camera is positioned in a notch. Since the back is not very slippery, you can use the smartphone without a case.

Dimensionally, the Realme 8 is identical to the previous generation. Only its weight has been reduced.

Display

The smartphone offers a better display compared to the Realme 7. It is AMOLED and has a diagonal of 6.4 inches. Although it is devoid of an increased refresh rate, it has an additional feature that enhances the picture. Realme 8 will please you with its display with a sufficient reserve of brightness and beautiful colors. The resolution remains at the FHD+ level. The user can use the Always On Display functionality to always see valuable information.

From the settings you can determine what the color temperature should be, there are different modes and "live" wallpapers that make the screen look dynamic and effect.

To enhance the image, the OSIE effect is available. Activating it can negatively affect the charge consumption, but the end result is worth it.

Performance

Underneath the Realme 8's beautiful exterior lies a MediaTek Helio G95 processor that we know from the predecessor Realme 7. It consists of 8 compute cores running in two clusters. The Mali-G76 MC4 is responsible for the graphics. To this we must extract that the smartphone is available in 3 modifications - with 4, 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The latter can be increased using a memory card, for which a separate slot is allocated.

In general, the processor, now in its third generation, is almost unchanged. This may lead us to doubt its ability to reproduce high performance. With everyday tasks Realme 8 will cope flawlessly. When you decide to push it harder, you may notice a slowdown.

Cameras

To the delight of brand fans, the cameras in the Realme 8 have undergone improvements. Especially when it comes to the main module. Quad Bayer, phase autofocus and 10x digital zoom have been provided. For its price, the smartphone shoots well. Make the most of the provided subjects and features. In dark conditions, noises will be visible on the footage.

The Realme 8's rear camera is quad. The main module is 64-megapixel and is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, which will allow you to take exciting panoramic or group shots. The other two sensors are 2 MP each and are responsible for macro shots and the bokeh effect.

The front-facing camera is a single, 16-megapixel camera and is "armed" with quite a few modes so you can express your creativity.

Autonomous operation

The absence of an increased screen refresh rate is one of the reasons why Realme 8's autonomous operation has been improved. The smartphone offers two nights of mixed mode usage. The AMOLED matrix also plays a role in the good result. Thanks to it, the user can watch videos for a longer time.

With a capacity of 5000 mAh, the Realme 8's battery can be recharged from 0 to 100% in just 65 minutes. In less than an hour you can count on a 50% charge. The manufacturer has included a 30W Dart Charge in the kit.

Interesting functions and features

Realme 8 offers an interesting mode called Tilt-Shift. With it, you can capture the world in an interesting way, transforming large cities into amazing miniature models.

Another mode will appeal to anyone who likes to photograph the starry sky. Let's take advantage of Starry Mode.

Conclusion

Realme 8 is an example of a balance of features without anything ultramodern being present. Its vision is beautiful and meets the requirements of a large number of users. The better autonomous performance will definitely appeal to anyone with a dynamic routine. The bright display with satisfactory size will conveniently show the information you need.

The updated interface also receives positive praise.

Competitors

The modern smartphone market offers a huge choice to the consumer. If you liked the Realme 8's features, you might also take a look at a few of its competitors. First up is the Samsung Galaxy A32 with a glass back and AMOLED display, but with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It's followed by the exciting Poco X3 NFC, which can be yours for a slightly higher price. It comes with IP53 standard protection, has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a similar charging speed. For a few more bucks on top, you can get its relative, the Poco X3 Pro.
