Design
Samsung Galaxy A80 represents a large and heavy smartphone. It is designed for fans of devices with maximally large screens. In your palm, it will fit effortlessly. Therefore, it is also not possible to handle it with only one hand. But who does it these days? One thing is a fact - you have a huge display in front of you.
Display
This Samsung device comes with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels, covered with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Its physical dimensions are 70×155 mm. The screen is simply huge!
The aspect ratio is 20:9. The pixel density - 393 ppi. The width of the frame around the screen is 3 mm on the sides and top. 5 mm - on the bottom. With such a large area of the display itself, without the presence of any notches in the frame, the screen actually looks spacious.
The user also gets the Always On Display feature.
Performance and memory
The Samsung Galaxy A80 is based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 single-chip system, prepared on an 8nm process. The configuration includes 8 Kryo 470 cores running at up to 1.8 GHz or up to 2.2 GHz. The role of the graphics processor is performed by Adreno 618. RAM is 8 GB and internal storage is 128 GB, with 109 GB free for the user.
The developers have not provided a memory card slot.
Cameras
Will you be able to take good photos with the Galaxy A80? Let's see what Samsung has offered us.
The main camera, which is housed in a rolling mechanism, consists of three modules. The main one is 48-megapixel and has 26 mm optics with f/2.0 aperture. The other two are an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with a focal length of 12 mm and a ToF sensor to estimate the distance to the subject. The South Koreans have not provided optical image stabilization in any of the modules.
During the day, the photos are obtained with not bad detail and average dynamic range. At night, you guessed it, the quality of the footage drops. Judging by the Galaxy A80's testing and video capabilities, this device is decent for its price class, but it can't offer the perfect performance of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note9 flagships.
Autonomous operation
The Galaxy A80 has been given an average-sized battery. It has a capacity of 3700 mAh. If you recall the A70 had received a capacity of 4500 mAh. Considering the large display and camera mechanism, the smartphone does not show an amazing level of performance. FYI - in normal mode of operation and infrequent use of the camera, you will have to recharge the battery at the end of the day.
Among the positives is the presence of fast charging technology support. Power - 25W.
A few more features
The Galaxy A80 offers an NFC module for contactless payments, an under-screen fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Conclusion
From everything described so far, we understand that the South Korean company has created a device with a powerful processor, an almost bezel-less display and a not bad innovative camera, which, however, you can't get for no money.
