Samsung Galaxy M12 Review

Samsung M12 is a smartphone that you can buy at an affordable price. Purely visually, it doesn't have a standout design, but its battery capacity of 6000 mAh is definitely worth your attention. This device offers a range of useful features and will be a complete assistant in your everyday life. It is available in several colors: black, blue and green.

Design

The Samsung M12 is very reminiscent in appearance of the A42 5G model. It is also equipped with a plastic body, has a flat screen and a main camera with 4 sensors formed in a square module. The only difference in design is found in the rear panel, which cleverly combines matte and gloss. Since the plastic body quickly accumulates fingerprint marks, we recommend using the Samsung M12 in a case.
A novelty in the device, whose dimensions are 164x75.9x9.7 mm, is the combination of the fingerprint scanner with the device power button. In the previous model it was located below the display.
Looking at the front of the Samsung M12, one can clearly notice the thin bezels and the teardrop-shaped notch under the front camera.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy M12 will delight any user who prefers a device with a large screen. It has a diagonal of 6.5 inches, an aspect ratio of 20:9, a resolution of 720x1600 pixels and is PLS IPS technology. The screen refresh rate is 90 Hz. By today's standards, the screen-to-front panel ratio is at a good 81.9%.

The company's engineers have tried to offer a large viewing angle, high pixel density and maximum natural color rendering. You won't have difficulty reading information on the screen even if you're outside in sunny weather. This type of display features low power consumption and is pleasing to the eye.

Since the front panel of the Samsung M12 is glass, but not Gorilla Glass, we recommend protecting it further.

Performance

Underneath the smartphone's pretty body is a combination of the Exynos 850 chipset and Mali-G52 GPU. The CPU is 8-core, consisting of 8 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz, split into two clusters. In the spirit of modern standards, the Samsung M12 is equipped with quite a lot of memory. It comes in two variants - with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage respectively, which you can expand using microSDXC. For convenience, the slot is separate.
The smartphone runs on Android 11 operating system and One UI 3.0 interface.

The selected features give the Samsung M12 a competitive place in the market. The smartphone offers a performance that can perform a variety of tasks without feeling any lag or slowness in its responses. Its interface is rich with interesting features. If you are used to working with a model of the South Korean company, your transition to this device will be more than smooth.

One UI offers excellent opportunities to customize the device to your own desires. You can change themes, adjust the display transparency for better visualization of images, change the design and colors of the watch, etc. Some apps can be viewed in a split screen.

Gesture control is also at a good level. With each passing year, the technology becomes more and more convenient to use. When your battery is running low, the smartphone automatically goes into power saving mode. As soon as you plug it in to recharge, it switches to standard mode in a flash.

Cameras

The Samsung M12 is a smartphone with decent photo qualities. Its rear camera is a combination of 4 sensors, the main one being a 48-megapixel, wide-angle, f/2.0 aperture. The other three sensors are a 5-megapixel ultra-wide angle, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensing module respectively. The latter is invaluable if you want to enjoy footage with a bokeh effect. The manufacturer has provided an LED flash and HDR mode.
The front-facing camera is a single, 8-megapixel and again wide-angle. With it, you'll be able to capture a lot more people in frame. Both cameras record video at 1080 pixels resolution at 30 frames per second.

Autonomous operation

As mentioned before, the Samsung M12 is a smartphone with an impressive battery. Its capacity of 6000 mAh provides decent autonomous operation for people with a dynamic daily routine, for whom being without a phone is not an option.

Conclusion

The budget Samsung M12 will appeal to anyone looking for a stylish smartphone that doesn't require constant recharging.

Pros:

  • Great battery and decent autonomous performance by today's standards
  • Powerful 8-core processor
  • 2 SIM card support
  • Convenient interface
  • Separate memory card slot
  • Large screen with excellent colours

Minuses:

  • Standard design
  • Plastic casing
  • There's more to be desired from the cameras
