Intro

The new series of flagships of the South Korean company Samsung will leave its mark in the history of smartphones. The manufacturer offered three magnificent devices - Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra. Why are we seeing the S20 after the S10? Because, say Samsung, the company is starting a new tradition in the numbering of devices and emphasizes cardinal changes in flagships.

Alongside the refreshed flagship S series, consumers were also introduced to a phone with a foldable display - the Galaxy Z Flip, and also a new wireless headset - the Galaxy Buds+. Let us tell you a bit more about the Samsung s20+ model.

Design

In the s20 series, the main trump cards are the cameras and the displays. The design and other features are extremely close and overlap heavily with what we know from the last generation. Of course, that's not a bad thing. Samsung's flagships are among the most advanced devices on the market. It's just that these features are retained in the new generation.

You should know that the trio of devices does not represent a "cut down" or "improved" version of each other. They are now absolutely independent with regard to their application. They can be seen as notebooks with many similarities but different displays.

Looking at the front of the smartphones, you immediately notice the memorable bright screen with curved side edges. The bezels on the sides seem to have gotten a little thinner, but not so much that holding the devices in your hand your palm touches the display. There are slight stripes on the top and bottom, and the bottom one has become a bit larger.

Looking for the most serious design changes? Then take a look at the back. The main camera unit has become more massive, slightly protruding above the surface of the body.

A high level of protection is provided in the Samsung s20+. The case is protected against water and dust to IP68 standard (survives up to 30 minutes immersion in fresh water). The device lies pleasantly in the palm. Ergonomics may not be ideal, only if the slippery surface is taken into account.

You'll find the Samsung s20+ on the market in several colors: space gray, space black, and glow red.

Dimensions: 161.9 mm × 73.7 mm × 7.8 mm. Weight - 186 grams.

Display

The screen diagonal of the Samsung s20+ is 6.7 inches. The maximum resolution is the familiar QHD+ (3200 × 1440 pixels). The latter indicator has long been expected by experts. There is no logic to increase the resolution, as well as to reduce it. This will only deprive the flagship of a key feature. The user has the ability to lower the resolution to improve the autonomous operation of the device.

The exciting display of Samsung s20+ is made using Dynamic AMOLED and HDR10+ technology. The interesting novelty here is the ability to run at a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This mode is only available at FullHD+ resolution. Using the maximum frequency will bestow you with a great animation effect, but will drain the battery faster. When working with QHD, the screen refresh rate is at 60 Hz.

In the new generation of Samsung flagships there is an overstatement of the quality of displays, but we can not talk about revolutionary changes.

Processor

The Samsung s20+ comes with a minimum Exynos 990 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which can be increased with a microSD card up to 1 TB.

The Samsung s20+ is also available in a 256/512 GB storage variant and 16 GB of RAM.

Other new features of the Galaxy S20+

Quick Share - This feature is analogous to AirDrop from Apple devices. Quick Share allows you to share content with 5 people at the same time without the need to use Bluetooth.
5G support - Samsung's new smartphone models have received support for 5G networks. You'll enjoy improved video quality, online gaming and download speeds.
3D Scanner - It allows you to turn objects into 3D animation.
Quick Measure - A camera that can measure distance.
Super slow motion - Allows you to shoot at 960 frames per second.
Multi-frame - A video shooting mode where artificial intelligence will recommend the best photos and videos.
Camera
The front-facing camera on the Samsung S20+, like its brethren, is single. It has a resolution of 10 MP. It is located in a notch in the center of the screen. It takes up even fewer pixels compared to the Galaxy S10.

Basic models are a key point in the S20 series. The flagship can shoot 8K video using a telephoto lens

The Samsung S20+ relies on a 12 MP wide-angle camera, a 64 MP telephoto (with 3x optical zoom) and a 12 MP wide-angle camera. We should note the presence of DepthVision depth sensors.

The Galaxy S20 and S20+ provide 30x hybrid zoom, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra provides 100x. Moreover, artificial intelligence algorithms allow multiple zooms of one or another object without significant loss of quality.

Autonomous operation

The Samsung S20+ is armed with a 4500mAh battery, tasked with offering the user a satisfying level of autonomous performance. The artificial intelligence embedded in the model learns the user's habits and peculiarities of using the device. Based on this data, the battery resource is rationally drawn. With an average load, you can expect from Samsung S20+ 2-3 days of autonomous work.

Wireless and fast charging up to 25W is supported in this model.

The device also brings with it fast charging - 45W via USB Type-C port and accelerated wireless charging with 15W. The Wireless PowerShare feature will serve you practically for recharging watches and other accessories.

Conclusion

Considering everything said so far, the Galaxy S20+ isn't just expectedly improved over past generations. It has been made significantly more comfortable to operate. It offers incredible capabilities.

Everything about it is designed so that with a single tap of the screen, the smartphone can perform the desired tasks. Among the most revealing improvements in the Galaxy S20+, we must point out:

  • Comfortable use;
  • Adaptive artificial intelligence;
  • Unique cameras;
  • 1 TB memory card support;
  • New 7nm Exynos 990 processor;
  • 8K resolution video shooting;
  • Ability to extract quality photos from videos.

The S20 series of smartphones doesn't just consist of a model and two upgraded version. The Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra represent unique standalone units. They are capable of meeting the needs of the modern consumer.
