Design

The ideas behind the design of the Galaxy S7 edge have their origins in the S6 edge and S6 edge+. Of course, they have been further developed. So the glass on the front panel curves not only along the sides, but also towards the top and bottom edges of the body. The company has managed to improve the manufacturing process and the transition between glass and metal frame is smooth. As a result, the Galaxy S7 edge's front panel looks more pleasing.

The back of the smartphone is made of glass that curves around the edges. Samsung has taken inspiration from the best of the smartphones already released on the market. So the Galaxy S7 edge has turned out truly gorgeous. It fits perfectly in the palm and looks exciting.

The dimensions of the Galaxy S7 edge are 150.9×72.6×7.7 mm at a weight of 157 grams. The smartphone is compact for most 5.5-inch models. This is due to the small bezels. The display occupies 76.1% of the front panel.

Protection against water and dust

The Galaxy S7 edge features IP68 standard protection against water and dust. Simply translated, the smartphone's casing is dust-proof and can withstand immersion in water up to 1.5 meters deep for no more than 30 minutes.

Display

Samsung has used Super AMOLED technology. The diagonal is 5.5 inches, the resolution - 2560 x 1440 pixels. The pixel density per inch is 534.

The display looks wonderful. The viewing angles are good, as is the colour rendering, which can change depending on the mode selected.

Edge screen

With the Galaxy S6 edge, the South Koreans introduced interface innovations related to the curved display. Users were given the ability to better handle apps and contacts. In the Galaxy S7 edge, this idea has been further developed.

Always active display

In the Galaxy S7 edge, the company provides a screen mode where the user can always see what time it is. Given the large battery in the phone, the technology does not harm the autonomous operation.

The blocked display of Galaxy S7 edge can display the time and notifications, calendar, etc.

Performance

The Galaxy S7 edge comes with different processes. One of them is the Samsung Exynos 8890, which consists of 4 Cortex-A57 performance cores and 4 power-efficient Cortex-A53 cores that run at 2.6 GHz and 1.6 GHz respectively. The graphics are handled by a Mali T880MP12 performance chip. It supports the Vulcan API. With the new generation mobile games you will have no problems.

RAM in the Galaxy S7 edge is 4 GB. An LPDDR4 module is used. The internal memory is 32 GB, 8 GB of which is taken up by the operating system. 24 GB remains available for the user. You can increase the memory with a microSD card.

The performance of the Galaxy S7 edge is at an excellent level. You won't experience any difficulty while working with apps and games. In practice, the smartphone's housing does not heat up, which is a good indicator.

Interface

In the Galaxy S7 edge, the company has provided a factory Android 6.0.1 operating system with an updated TouchWiz interface. The latter has become a bit brighter than before and features a number of additional options. The desktop hasn't changed and neither has the main menu. The notification panel is now greyed out. There you will find the quick settings and the brightness adjustment. In this interface you get even more fonts and the option to download new ones.

Fingerprint scanner

These days, privacy is of serious importance and technologies that provide it are sought after by users. Samsung has provided a fingerprint scanner. It is located traditionally in the Home button, which is located below the display. Unlike previous versions, in the Galaxy S7 edge the button is slightly larger. It's easier to use.

The scanner works faster and more seamlessly. Even if moisture gets on it, it's okay - the case is waterproof.

Cameras

The Galaxy S7 edge's main camera is a 12-megapixel camera with phase autofocus and LED flash. Given that the company had secured a 16-megapixel camera in the S6 edge, it might seem like a step backwards, but it's not. You only have to look at the rest of the specs.

The new photomodule uses a light-sensitive matrix with large pixels (1.4µm), each of which has two photodiodes. Together with the f/1.7 aperture, the camera captures more light, including in low-light conditions. Thanks to this, the Galaxy S7 edge can take quality photos both day and night.

The main camera is equipped with optical stabilisation, which you'll immediately notice when recording video.

As for the front-facing camera, it's 5-megapixel on the Galaxy S7 edge, with an f/1.7 aperture like the main camera. It takes gorgeous photos and you'll immediately want to share them on social media.

Autonomous operation

A 3600 mAh battery is packed into the cute and pleasant to hold Galaxy S7 edge. It gives the smartphone good autonomous performance. With active use, you can safely count on around the clock, and with less load, recharging will be necessary after a day and a half or two.

The Galaxy S7 edge is charged via the microUSB port. The manufacturing company has provided fast charging technology. In 100 minutes, the battery will restore the charge from e to 100%. In addition, the smartphone features induction charging - just place it on a compatible charging station and it will start charging.

Conclusion

The Galaxy S7 edge is a functional and beautiful smartphone that has deservedly earned the title of best smartphone of its time.
