Design
As a form, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has not changed. Its dimensions remain the same at 159.2 x 68 x 16.8 mm and 159.2 x 128.2 x 6.9 mm when unfolded. The camera unit protrudes above the body, which means the user has to exercise caution when handling the smartphone. In bronze color, the Galaxy Z Fold 2's body is the same as the Note 20 Ultra.
The new foldable smartphone is available in two colours - apart from the aforementioned bronze, also in black.
The thickness of the device when unfolded has not changed. The height is more or less the same. The end result is a smartphone you can comfortably hold in your hand.
Display
The external screen size of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is 6.2 inches. It's handy for quick replies, typing, and other tasks. The diagonal of the main screen is now 7.6 inches - more than the predecessor's 7.3 inches. Unfortunately, Samsung does not give much explanation of the features and does not name the changes that have happened under the hull of this interesting smartphone. We do know that the resolution is 1768 x 2208 pixels at a pixel density of 317 pixels per inch. The screen supports a frequency of 120 Hz. There is only an adaptive mode where the refresh rate changes from 1 to 120 Hz. For example, when the user is reading this may be 1 Hz and when playing it may be 120 Hz. The unit adjusts itself according to the content and applications.
Performance
The Galaxy Z Fold is marketed in a variant with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. No memory card is provided. Models with more internal storage will be available in some countries, but at a later stage.
The smartphone is based on Snapdragon 865+ chipset. In terms of performance, there are no doubts. This device runs fast and faster than you might assume. A perfect model for watching videos, playing games and other similar entertainment.
Cameras
The main camera unit in the Galaxy Z Fold is similar to the one we know from the first Fold. All the cameras have a resolution of 12 MP. There are three of them, one wide-angle, one main and one dual-zoom. The modules have been changed, but for the better. The new algorithms in processing the photos are interesting and produce magnificent results.
The selfie cameras in the Galaxy Z Fold are two. They are located on the outside of the device and also on the inside. We are talking about 10-megapixel modules that we know from the last generation Note 20.
There are a few new things in the Galaxy Z Fold's camera. We have to mention Auto Framing, when you partially open the device and place it on the table. It will automatically adjust the picture to see up to three people in the frame. This feature is super useful when recording video.
Another interesting option is the ability to take a selfie with the main camera. You open the smartphone and immediately a picture appears on the external screen.
Autonomous operation
In the Galaxy Z Fold 2 there is a battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh. It consists of two elements. Most importantly, there is USB PD support that ensures fast charging from any supported charger. In 65 minutes, you can charge the Galaxy Z Fold 2's battery to 100%. In half an hour - up to 62%. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes with a 25W device.
Fast charging technology supports up to 15W of power, allowing you to charge your smartphone in 100 minutes. Pretty convenient feature. Reverse charging, on the other hand, gives users the option to recharge their accessories or else another smartphone at up to 9W.
Conclusion
Owners of the first Fold have definitely enjoyed their new acquisition. The second version has gotten even more interesting. The device is now better perceived by users. Many basic things are behind them like questions and doubts. Galaxy Z Fold 2 offers a new type of experience that is worth the investment. It will definitely appeal to people who love innovation and super quality photos and videos.
