Tecno Spark 10 Pro Design
I recently got my hands on the Tecno Spark 10 Pro and I must say I was impressed with its design. When I first saw it, I couldn't believe it wasn't from one of the popular smartphone brands like Redmi or Realme. The 6.8-inch diagonal display is large and beautiful, with medium-sized bezels, although the chin is a bit large. The selfie camera hole in the middle of the top of the screen is nice and gives it a modern look.
The dimensions of the phone are 168.4 x 76.2 x 8.4 mm and it weighs 208g, which is a bit heavy but not unbearable. The construction of the phone is a combination of glass for the front and back panel and plastic for the frame. The back panel has a horizontal part with a glossy look and occupies some space on the top side, while the rest is matte with a sand dust texture. I particularly like the elegantly shaped camera area on the left, which is separate from the rest of the rear panel.
One of the most significant design changes is the camera module, which now has three circles instead of two. On closer inspection, however, the number of lenses has been reduced by one. The circle on the right side of the module is actually a flash, and the small hole above it serves only as decoration.
The phone also features a headphone jack and a SIM card slot that can hold a TF card and two SIM cards together.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Camera
I have to admit that the camera on the Tecno Spark 10 Pro is certainly impressive. As someone who loves taking selfies, I was immediately drawn to the AI selfie camera and all the amazing features it offers. The custom beauty setting allows me to really fine tune my selfies, and the smart AI makes sure my skin looks smooth and my skin tone is just right. I also appreciate the 3D sculpting and nose shape options, as well as the eye shape adjustment feature.
The camera app itself is full of options including Super Night, Portrait, Google Lens, Beauty, Video, AI cam and Short video. I particularly liked the Short Video mode for social media, which offers lots of cool visuals to play around with.
With three lenses, including a 50-megapixel sensor and f/1.6 aperture, the main lens takes amazing daylight shots. Night shots are good too, but get even better with Super Night Mode 3.0. And with a 32-megapixel selfie camera and wide-angle lens, taking selfies is a dream. The high megapixel count meant I could capture so much detail in my photos.
The video resolutions were good, but I was a little disappointed that there was no stabilisation. The sound wasn't recorded very well either, although the quality was good when the phone was stable.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Display
When I first saw the Tecno Spark 10 Pro's display, I immediately noticed the improvement. It is a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel that has been optimized for a better visual experience. I must say that scrolling on this phone is much smoother, and the touch feedback feels more responsive. One of the things I appreciate about this phone is the screen-to-body ratio of 85.6%, which means the phone's display takes up a significant amount of space from the front.
The resolution is 1080 x 2460 pixels, giving us an impressive density of 395 ppi. I have to say that the screen quality is great, thanks to the 90 Hz refresh rate. However, the panel isn't very bright and I often had to shade it when using it outdoors in the middle of summer. Despite this drawback, the colours and viewing angles are good and overall I got a good viewing experience.
Overall, I wouldn't say the display is fantastic, but it's clear that the Tecno Spark 10 Pro does its best to offer the best possible display within its budget. The resulting colors are vibrant, even though it's an IPS LCD screen. However, if you're the kind of person who likes to use your phone outdoors in direct sunlight, you might find the screen a little hard to see. I also had issues with the adaptive screen brightness, which failed to adjust the screen brightness when I was outdoors, and had to be adjusted manually.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Performance
In terms of performance, I have to say that I'm impressed with the Tecno Spark 10 Pro. The Mediatek Helio G88 SoC is the driving force behind this smartphone and it partners with fast 90Hz displays to create a super smooth mobile app and OS experience. I found the octa-core processor to be quite responsive, with fast loading apps and camera shots.
One of the things that impressed me were the hardware accelerators that come with the G88, including a hardware depth engine for dual-camera bokeh capture, a camera control unit (CCU), electronic image stabilization (EIS) and rolling shutter compensation (RSC) technologies. Building on generations of photographic advancements, these features have made my experience taking photos more vibrant and professional.
For light gaming, there were no performance issues with games like Temple Run. However, heavier 3D games are not recommended due to the limited RAM capacity.
As for multitasking, I experienced some limitations with the 8 GB of RAM that comes with the phone. Heavy tasks, such as gaming or running multiple apps at once, can be a challenge. There is an option to increase the RAM up to 16 GB using the virtual RAM, but I didn't notice any significant differences.
Benchmark tests put the phone on par with other devices in its price range, and I didn't encounter any software lag or heating issues. Mali-G52 MC2 graphics and eMMC 5.1 memory improve the phone's overall performance. Although there is only one speaker, the sound quality for music is decent at all volume levels, and the audio for calls and video calls is adequate.
Connectivity is another aspect that impressed me in the Tecno Spark 10 Pro. It has full signal in talk conditions, and Bluetooth works seamlessly with wireless headphones. Additionally, the GPS works instantly, which is an important feature if you rely on navigation often.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Battery
As someone who relies on my phone a lot during the day, I was impressed with the battery life of the Tecno Spark 10 Pro. The huge Li-Po 5000 battery, combined with Tecno's added software, provides me with two days of light use or one day of medium use without gaming. It's impressive to see how long the battery lasts without having to constantly recharge it.
What really surprised me was the charging speed. The brand new 18W Type-C charger is a welcome addition to the configuration, giving me a full charge in just 2.5 hours.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Software
I have to say that the software portion of the Tecno Spark 10 Pro is quite impressive. It comes with the latest Android 13, which is quite surprising and impressive in this price segment. HiOS 12.6 brings all the necessary features and capabilities that we see in the latest ROMs. However, I did notice some bloatware and ads, which is quite common in smartphones of similar price.
But overall the software is pretty stable, with no serious bugs or limitations. And I have a feeling that with a little polishing HiOS could stand alongside other popular skins. As far as gaming goes, the G88 handles PUBG Mobile quite well, maintaining stable HD graphics at 30fps.
The skin covers all user needs with good speed and minimal power consumption. I hope that Tecno will continue to provide updates for this phone as it will make the software even more user friendly.
Overall, the software part of the Tecno Spark 10 Pro is impressive, albeit with some minor difficulties. I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a budget smartphone with decent software.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Price
As a tech enthusiast, I always keep my eyes open for the latest and greatest gadgets on the market. When I came across the Tecno Spark 10 Pro, I was immediately intrigued by its impressive specs and sleek design. I have to admit, however, that the price made me think twice.
Priced at UGX 703,000 for the 256/8GB RAM model and UGX 595,009 for the 128/8GB RAM version, I couldn't help but wonder if the investment was worth it. After all, there are other options from more established brands like Samsung and Apple.
However, after using the Spark 10 Pro for a few weeks, I can confidently say that it's worth every penny. The phone is lightning fast and handles even the most demanding apps and games with ease. The camera is also top-notch, producing stunning photos and videos that rival those from much more expensive devices.
Of course, if you're on a budget, the 128+8GB option is the way to go. Priced at UGX 595,009, it's much more affordable than some of its competitors but still packs a serious punch. Overall, I would highly recommend the Tecno Spark 10 Pro to anyone who is in the market for a new smartphone. It may not be the cheapest option, but it's definitely one of the best.
Tecno Spark 10 Pro Conclusion
Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my experience using the Tecno Spark 10 Pro. As someone who loves to take selfies and share them on social media, this phone exceeded my expectations. The camera system on this device is really impressive, especially considering its affordable price. While the lack of electronic image stabilization and the sound quality when recording video leave a little to be desired, it is still great for taking still photos.
In terms of performance, the phone functions smoothly and efficiently for everyday use. However, heavy 3D gaming or multitasking can be a bit difficult. The battery life is fantastic and I never have to worry about it running out in the middle of the day. The design is sleek and modern, and I appreciate the addition of a case and headphones in the box.
