Xiaomi 13 Pro Design
The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a premium design and finish, but it lacks uniqueness and can look a bit dated. Available in four colors: Ceramic White, Ceramic Black, Ceramic Flora Green, Mountain Blue.
The device is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back, and is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The frame is made of aluminum and the screen has curved edges.
The back of the device features a large square camera module located at the top left, with lines to distinguish the different camera lenses and flash. The Leica logo is located above the flash.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Display
The display is a prominent feature of Xiaomi smartphones, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro is no exception. It features a 6.73-inch OLED panel with a 2K (QHD+) resolution of 1440 x 3200p, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1900 nits (peak).
This display is one of the brightest on the market, but it should be noted that the brightness of 1900 nits is only achievable at peak, which means that it appears on a small part of the screen. In high brightness mode (with brightness set to maximum), Xiaomi promises a brightness of 1200 nits.
The screen is easy to read in all conditions. It is well lit during gaming sessions and with correct colorimetric settings the multimedia experience is almost perfect.
The refresh rate can be adjusted from 1 to 120 Hz with the integrated LTPO technology, but like other smartphones with LTPO panels, the manufacturer did not stick to the 1 Hz setting used.
Xiaomi also provides several modes to improve image quality with its AI image processor. You can upgrade the resolution of videos, improve the quality of gallery photos through scene recognition, and improve the dynamic range of selected videos.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Interface
Xiaomi 13 Pro runs on MIUI 14 which is based on Android 13. During operation, there are no significant differences between MIUI 14 and MIUI 13. However, there are some new widgets and home screen customization menu which makes it look updated with a more attractive and colorful design.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Productivity
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and is equipped with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage (UFS 3.1 for the 128GB version).
Compared to its predecessor, the performance improvement offered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is significant, which is evident in the graphics benchmark results.
Temperature control has been a constant problem with Xiaomi devices, but there seems to be some improvement in this area with the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Although it can reach up to 45°C during high load, no overheating is felt during normal use.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Picture quality
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is equipped with a triple camera setup consisting of a 50.3MP main lens, a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP telephoto lens and a 32MP selfie camera.
The main lens of the Xiaomi 13 Pro is the same as that of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and features a 1-inch Sony IMX 989 sensor. With 4-in-1 pixel combining, the photos taken with this camera have a resolution of 12.5 MP and can boast excellent detail and sharpness. The prime lens also provides 2x zoom without sacrificing image quality.
First impressions of the telephoto lens are not particularly good, the 70x zoom level seems to be of limited use. But on the other hand, the selfie camera does a great job
Xiaomi 13 Pro Battery life
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is equipped with a 4820mAh battery that supports fast charging via 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. At the launch in China, Xiaomi said the battery life of the Xiaomi 13 Pro will surpass that of the class-leading iPhone 14 Pro Max.
However, the fast charging capabilities are impressive, with a full charge achieved in less than 20 minutes via the 120-watt wired charger.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Conclusion
The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a high-end smartphone with its excellent OLED display, fast 120Hz/QHD+ combination, long battery life and efficient fast charging. It also demonstrates a significant improvement in performance stability and makes the most of Qualcomm's new chip. However, the design of the device looks outdated and the new features in MIUI 14 are few.
