Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Review

In the family of mid-budget smartphones there is a new worthy representative. This is the Redmi Note 10, which is a continuation of the Redmi Note 9 series. The device impresses with quality craftsmanship, ergonomics, a beautiful screen and excellent performance for this class.

Design

Visually, the Redmi Note 10 is eye-catching in that its dimensions are average by today's standards. It is neither too small nor too big. Its dimensions allow you to carry it without a problem in your jacket or jeans pocket. Weighing 179 grams, you won't feel any discomfort when handling it for long periods of time either.

Redmi Note 10 is available in three colours - black, white and green. Whichever you choose, you'll be delighted with its interesting look. Similar to the look of its predecessor, here too we see the front camera at the top of the device. The side bezels are plastic as they successfully mimic metal. The rear panel is also made of plastic. While it is covered in gloss, this does not make it slippery.

The bezels around the Redmi Note 10's screen aren't the thinnest. The display occupies almost 84% of the front panel surface, which is an average result by today's standards. As a result, we get a device with a typical design.

Display

The Redmi Note 10 sports a Super AMOLED display with a diagonal of 6.43 inches. The aspect ratio is 20:9 and the resolution is 1080 x 2400 pixels. The pixel density per inch is 409. The refresh rate is standard - 60 Hz. Maximum brightness is 415 cd/m². It is sufficient to read information when you are outside on a sunny day. The minimum screen brightness is only 2.2 cd/m², which suggests that Redmi Note 10 is suitable for people who have a habit of using a smartphone in complete darkness.

From the phone's settings, you can choose from three video modes - auto, saturation and standard.

Performance

Underneath the Redmi Note 10's cute looks lies a Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 chipset. It has successfully replaced the Snapdragon 675 and is slightly different from it. It is manufactured using 11nm process technology and is equipped with an Adreno 612 video module. It contains two Kryo 460 Gold (Cortex-A76) performance cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, and six Kryo 460 Silver (Cortex-A55) performance cores clocked at 1.8 GHz.

The Redmi Note 10 is available in several variants based on memory size - with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage. Of the wireless interfaces present Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, infrared port, etc. However, NFC chip support is absent.

To unlock the Redmi Note 10, the company has provided facial recognition capability that works with the help of the front camera. The procedure doesn't take much time. Even with a scarf or a hat, you will be recognized in no time.

The user can also opt for a fingerprint scanner to secure access to the device. It is co-located with the Redmi Note 10's start button. It works almost instantly.

Cameras

The Redmi Note 10 features a quad rear camera that consists of a 48-megapixel primary module with an f/1.8 aperture. With it, you'll be able to take photos with 12 MP resolution. To get higher resolution shots, you need to select a dedicated mode. The main module is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 118-degree viewing angle, a 2-megapixel macro module and a depth sensor with the same resolution.

The camera application has not been changed. It has a standard interface, which contributes to the quick transition from the old Redmi to the new one. Basic modes like profile, video, portrait, photo etc are available. You'll also find a mode for night shots, panorama and more.

With the Redmi Note 10 in hand in daylight, you'll take decent photos with natural colors. The darker it is around you or if it's cloudy, the harder it will be to get good results. You should know that the 48-megapixel mode will take more detailed photos, but the image enhancement algorithms don't work with it. Indoors, it is advisable to use the night mode.

The front camera of the Redmi Note 10 is a single 13 MP and you will take decent selfies with it.

Autonomous operation

Behind the positive reviews of the Redmi Note 10's autonomous performance is a 5000 mAh battery and a power-efficient chipset. The smartphone delivers over 14 hours of operation at near maximum screen brightness. This is a worthy indicator for this class of devices. Under moderate usage, the Redmi Note 10 provides up to two days of battery life before you need to use the charger. Good news is that fast charging technology (33W) is supported. With it, you'll have a new 50% battery charge in just half an hour.

Conclusion

The Redmi Note 10 is an interesting model that deserves your attention for several reasons. Among them are a good AMOLED display, quality and loud stereo sound, satisfactory autonomous operation, fast fingerprint scanner and accurate facial recognition.
