Huawei nova Y90 Design

The Huawei Nova Y90 is available in three colors: Emerald Green, Crystal Blue and Midnight Black. The phone's design is inspired by Huawei's flagship models, with a matte finish on the rear panel that shines depending on the lighting angle and is resistant to smudges from fingerprints.

Dimensions are 163.3 x 74.7 x 8.4 mm, weight 195 g and a large 6.7-inch screen, which makes it light, but not ideal for one-handed use. The front of the phone features an 8MP selfie camera that can shoot 1080p video, located in the center of the phone. On the right side of the phone, there is a volume up/down button and a power button, in which the fingerprint sensor is embedded and can quickly recognize and unlock the device.

On the back is the main camera which is 50 MP high resolution, 2 MP depth camera, 2 MP macro camera and single LED flash. At the bottom of the phone is a SIM tray that can accommodate two SIM cards, stereo speakers and a USB-C 2.0 charging port. At the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Huawei nova Y90 Display

The Huawei Nova Y90 features a large 6.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2388 x 1080 pixels and a high screen-to-body ratio of 94%. It has a 270Hz touch sampling rate and a 90Hz refresh rate, making the overall user experience smoother. The display boasts vivid colors and good contrast with wide viewing angles. The bezels are slim, providing an immersive viewing experience, and the brightness level is sufficient for outdoor use.

Huawei nova Y90 Productivity and connectivity

The Huawei Nova Y90 is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 680 processor, Adreno 610 GPU, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. This powerful combination of hardware delivers great performance with no noticeable lag. It can run most games without any problems. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 and GPS.

Huawei nova Y90 Camera

The Huawei Nova Y90 features 3 cameras in a circular design that Huawei calls the "Cosmic Ring" design. It includes a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor along with an LED flash. The main 50MP camera takes photos with good colors and sharpness during the day, making it ideal for social media and sharing. However, in low-light conditions, the main camera struggles and produces images with some noise and color inaccuracies. This may be improved with a future software update.

The phone has a 2MP macro lens for close-up shots, but captured images tend to be soft and pixelated. The 8MP front camera takes pictures with decent contrast and color, but in bright light conditions. The device can record videos in 1080p or 720p at 30fps and has a Dual-View video mode that lets you record from the front and rear cameras simultaneously. Video quality is decent, but there's no OIS or EIS, which results in some shaky footage at times.

Huawei nova Y90 Operating system

Like recent Huawei phones, the Nova Y90 runs Android 11 with MIUI 12. Although it doesn't support Google Play services, users can install Android apps through the Huawei AppGallery store or third-party app stores such as APKPure.
The Device+ tab in the control panel allows easy connection to other devices, and the One Hop Connection via NFC allows the Nova Y90 to connect to other Huawei devices with just one tap

Huawei nova Y90 Battery and audio

The Huawei Nova Y90 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that can last a full day of use. It comes with a 40W fast charger that charges the phone from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes or about an hour for a full charge. As for sound, the phone has speakers that deliver enough sound to fill a small room, but there can be some distortion at maximum volume. The device's microphone offers good sound quality during calls.

Huawei nova Y90 Conclusion

The Huawei Nova Y90 is a budget smartphone suitable for entertainment purposes and offers a smooth experience overall with a decent screen, durable battery and a great balance between hardware, software and price. Camera performance is average and the lack of Google Play may be a drawback for some, but the device has plenty of built-in features and apps that make up for it. The device is available in Emerald Green, Crystal Blue and Midnight Black colors.
