Samsung Galaxy A10 review

One of the curious new additions to the Galaxy A series in 2019 is the Samsung Galaxy A10. To reduce the price of the model, the manufacturer has made several cuts in terms of features, which, however, have not affected the design. The device is in the style of the other models in the A-series. Let's take a look at what it actually offers.

Design

The face of the Samsung Galaxy A10 almost copies those of the already familiar A20, A30 and A40 models. For fans of the series, this can be appreciated as an advantage. Almost the entire face is taken up by a 6.2-inch display with small bezels on the sides and top. The placement of the front camera the manufacturer has solved by using a drop-shaped notch. Immediately above it is located the speaker.

On the right side of the device are the volume and on/off buttons. On the left there is a slot for 2 SIM cards and a memory card. At the bottom of the device are located 3.5 mm audio jack , microUSB port and microphone.

On the back of the Galaxy A10 you can tell that it is a representative of the budget class. This is evident not from the modest camera module, which only slightly protrudes above the panel plane, but rather because of the notch on the main speaker, which is located in the lower left corner. The back panel is made of thin glossy plastic and is easily scratched. We recommend the use of a case.

The Samsung Galaxy A10 can be found on the market in 3 colour options: black, blue and red.

We should also note that this model does not offer a fingerprint scanner and can be protected by a simple digital password, drawing or face scanner. The latter works relatively quickly. For this class of devices, the result is decent.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy A10, as we have already managed to mention to you, offers a 6.2-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1520x720 pixels (HD+). It is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass. If you bring the display very close to your eyes, you'll notice that there are minor picture clarity issues. In everyday use, however, this minus will not be noticed.

The South Korean manufacturer has provided an oleophobic coating, which, however, is minimal. Good news is that there is a sensor for automatic brightness adjustment. For the latter, we can say that it is enough to operate the smartphone on the street on a sunny day. The information on the screen will be readable.

The display settings are minimal. There is a night mode, the ability to change the font size and style, zoom, etc.

Brightness ranges from 4 to 450 cd/m2 and contrast is 2050. The factory screen calibration is done decently, however, not everyone may like the high minimum brightness. Because of this, it is slightly uncomfortable to use the Galaxy A10 in the evening time.

Performance

To make the Galaxy A10 competitive in the market, the company has equipped it with an Exynos 7 Series 7884 processor. The Galaxy A20 smartphone also features the same. The RAM is 2 GB (compared to 3 GB on the Galaxy A20). The internal storage is 32 GB, with 22.6 GB available to the user. If you want to expand the memory, you can use a microSD memory card.

Information about the performance of the Galaxy A10 is given by benchmark tests. From them, we understand that this model is slightly inferior to the results of the Galaxy A20. However, for the undemanding user, its performance will be enough to perform the usual tasks. With this smartphone, you can enjoy simple games with ease.

From the wireless modules in the device, we see Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and also Bluetooth 5.0. Bad news for some will be the absence of NFC.

Cameras

The main camera of the Galaxy A10 has a resolution of 13 MP and an aperture of f/1.9. The interface is simple, with a small amount of settings and a satisfyingly limited manual mode. A digital double zoom key can be seen on the main screen.

For a budget device, this Samsung model doesn't shoot badly. During the day, the photos are sufficiently detailed. In the evening, the results are weaker, but if you provide a good light source, and then you will enjoy satisfactory shots. The lack of dynamic range is felt.

The front camera of the Galaxy A10 is a 5-megapixel with f/2 aperture. It handles its tasks well.

With this model of the A-series, you can record Full HD video at 30 frames per second. Stabilization is absent.

Autonomous operation

Samsung Galaxy A10 is equipped with a 3400 mAh battery. If in older models users is set at 4000 mAh, here we see a smaller capacity. However, we must take into account the not high screen resolution and the sufficiently economical processor. Then the autonomous work turns out to be at an excellent level. The charge will last you for almost a day of active use with the screen on for about 5.5 hours. The battery discharge is linear, that is, there is no sudden loss of capacity. If you reduce the load, you can count on 1.5-2 days of operation.

If you rely on fast charging technology, this device is not for you. The manufacturer has not provided its support in this model.

The Galaxy A10 offers 3 modes to optimize battery consumption: optimized, medium power saving and maximum power saving. A full battery recharge requires 2 hours.

Software

The model comes with Android 9 operating system with OneUI interface. This solution is quite functional and lightweight. The same interface is also used in the company's flagships.

A few words about the multimedia capabilities of the Galaxy A10. In the smartphone you will find a built-in radio with the ability to record broadcasts. The headphones work in the capacity of an antenna. For music, in addition to standard equalizers and settings, Dolby Atmos is present.

The standard applications are represented by a calculator, file manager, voice recorder and other applications that are necessary for comfortable use of the phone.

Conclusion, pros and cons

Finally, we have to say that the Galaxy A10 is a budget smartphone from the new A-series. Among the advantages of the model are the pleasant design and attractive price, performance and camera. We should not forget the excellent performance in autonomous operation.

This model will not appeal to those of you who insist on the fingerprint scanner and NFC for contactless payments.

Pros:

  • Appearance;
  • Quality workmanship;
  • Cameras;
  • Autonomy;
  • Price.

Cons:

  • Absence of a fingerprint scanner;
  • Absence of NFC;
  • Slow operation of the face scanner.
